STANDINGS:
ACColades:
ACC - A league-record eight ACC teams earn bowl bids ... the ACC and the Big 12 lead all conferences with eight teams in bowl play ... since 2001 a total of 33 ACC teams have taken part in post-season play.
ACC - Following a 3-3 bowl mark in 2004, the ACC is the only conference to post a .500-or-better record in post-season play in each of the past four seasons.
ACC - Over the past four years, the ACC is 16-9 in post-season play and has the best bowl winning percentage (.640) among all I-A conferences during that span.
ACC - The ACC is the nation’s all-time winningest conference in bowl play among conferences with 75 or more bowl appearances ... the 12 current members are a combined 120-107-5 (.533) in post-season play.
ACC - The ACC is 9-7 against BCS conference foes in 2005 with six different teams recording BCS wins during the regular season ... the ACC played more games against BCS opponents (16) than any other conference.
ACC - Over the past four years, the ACC is 46-37 (.554) against other BCS conferences, including a 14-13 mark against the SEC, 7-4 vs. the Big 12, 22-10 vs. the Big East and 2-2 versus the Pac-10.
ACC - For the first time ever, the ACC surpassed 3.8 million in attendance ... the 12 league teams drew 3,835,260 in 73 games ... 10 of the 12 ACC schools drew 85 percent or better in percentage of capacity.
ACC - Miami heads up a group of five ACC teams ranked in the Final BCS standings ... the Hurricanes were ranked 8th, followed by Virginia Tech (10th), Boston College (21st), Florida State (22nd) and Georgia Tech (24th).
ACC - The ACC currently leads all conferences with six teams ranked in the AP poll - the SEC and the Big Ten are tied for second with five ranked teams each ... seven ACC teams were ranked at least one week in 2005, with three - Virginia Tech, Miami and Florida State - earning top 10 recognition.

TEAM NOTES:
Boston College
The Eagles closed out the regular season with back-to-back wins over NC State and Maryland and are ranked 19th in both polls … the Sagarin computer ranks their schedule as the nation's 26th toughest … BC is second in the ACC and 8th nationally in rushing defense allowing 95.2 yards per game, their lowest average since a 70.3 mark in 1990 … the Eagles have yielded a league low five TDs rushing … sophomores L.V. Whitworth (748) and Andre Callender (651) have combined to rush for 1,399 yards and 13 TDs from the tailback position … Will Blackmon is third on the NCAA career kickoff return yardage list with 2,772 yards.
Clemson
The Tigers have won three in a row, five of their last six, and are ranked 23rd in both polls … ACC Rookie of the Year James Davis is fourth in the ACC in rushing with 729 yards and eight TDs … the Tigers' four losses were by a combined total of 14 points, including two in overtime … senior Charlie Whitehurst is 5th in the ACC in career passing yards (9,460) and total offense (9,561) and has thrown two-or-more touchdown passes 14 times in his career … Clemson has forced two-or-more turnovers in eight straight games and leads the ACC in turnover margin (+0.91).
Duke
The Blue Devils closed out their 2005 season with a 24-21 loss at North Carolina (N19) … three of Duke's losses were by seven points or less … the Blue Devils played 14 true freshmen in 2005 … MLB Michael Brown leads all ACC freshmen in tackles per game (7.6) and was named as the ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year by the Sporting News … Zach Asack started six times at QB and is 5th nationally among freshman passing leaders with 966 yards … 1st-team All-ACC CB John Talley has 11 career interceptions - tops among active players in the ACC and sixth nationally … Talley ranks 4th all-time in the ACC with 245 career interception return yards.
Florida State
FSU claimed its 12th ACC title with a 27-22 victory over 5th-ranked Virginia Tech in the inaugural ACC Title Game … the Seminoles are ranked 22nd in both polls … Willie Reid accounted for 210 all-purpose yards against the Hokies and was named Game MVP … Reid is 10th on the ACC career punt return list (883) and 5th in career punt return average (14.2) ... QB Drew Weatherford leads the ACC in total offense (243.8), passing yardage (245.8) and is second in TD passes (17) … Weatherford's 2,950 yards passing are the second-most by a freshman in ACC history.
Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech and Southern Cal are the only two teams in the nation that have two wins over teams currently ranked in the Top 10 … Tech played seven games against teams that earned a bowl bid this season, including four games against teams that won nine or more games and the Sagarin Computer ranks their schedule as the nation's 14th-toughest … GT ranks in the Top 20 nationally in total defense (10th), rushing defense (11th), pass efficiency defense (14th), scoring defense (16th), turnover margin (17th) … QB Reggie Ball is 17th among ACC career total offense leaders (7,145) and 22nd in passing (6,050).
Maryland
The Terps finished the season 5-6 overall and tied for fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 3-5 league mark … Sam Hollenbach threw for over 200 yards eight times in 2005 and ranks second among ACC quarterbacks with 2,539 yards passing … LB D'Qwell Jackson is second nationally in tackles per game (13.7) and became the third Terp in the last five years to be named ACC Defensive Player of the Year … TE Vernon Davis led the team in receptions (51) and receiving yardage (871) and earned first-team AFCA All-America honors … Lance Ball is third in the ACC in rushing yards per game (82.1).
Miami
The Hurricanes finished the regular season 10-2, second in the Coastal Division with a 6-2 league mark and ranked ninth in both polls … the two losses were by a total of seven points … Miami leads the nation in passing yardage defense (148.2) and passing efficiency defense (84.6) and is second in scoring defense (11.9) and third in total defense (252.1) … Kyle Wright has completed 59 percent of his passes for 2,303 yards and a league-high 18 TD passes … Kelly Jennings leads the ACC and is third nationally in passes defended (1.5) … Devin Hester has four punt returns for TDs in his career and is averaging 15.6 yards per return.
North Carolina
The Tar Heels finished the season 5-6 overall and fourth in the Coastal Division with a 4-4 league mark … two of the losses were by six points or less … WR Jarwarski Pollock finished his career 12th on the ACC all-time reception list with 177 catches … the Sagarin Computer ranks UNC's schedule as the nation's 8th-toughest … QB Matt Baker threw for 200 or more yards seven times in 2005 and his 2,345 yards passing is the 4th-best single season total in UNC history … Ronnie McGill averaged 4.1 yards per carry and led the team in rushing with 530 yards.
NC State
NC State won four of its last five games to finish 6-5 overall and tied for fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 3-5 league mark … the Wolfpack committed only three turnovers over the last four games … over the final six games of the season State allowed only 71.2 yards per game rushing … Andre Brown (616) and Toney Baker (453) combined to rush for 1,069 yards and 10 touchdowns as freshmen … Brown averaged 5.3 yards per carry, Baker 4.5 … Darrell Blackman leads the ACC and is 5th nationally in kickoff returns (29.1) … WR Brian Clark leads the ACC in yards per catch (22.0).
Virginia
Senior Wali Lundy is 11th on the ACC career scoring list (300), 20th in all-purpose yardage (4,439) and 23rd in rushing yardage (3,134) … PK Connor Hughes has made 64-of-77 career field goal attempts (83.1) and is tied for 5th on the ACC career scoring list with 322 points … Deyon Williams is tied for second in the ACC in receptions (4.7) and fourth in yards (61.7) … Jason Snelling is averaging 5.9 yards per carry in his career (93-for-552 yards) … Marcus Hamilton is tied for the league lead with five interceptions …freshman Cedric Peerman is second in the ACC and 15th nationally in kickoff returns (27.3).
Virginia Tech
The Hokies are ranked 12th in both polls … Tech leads the country in total defense (239.7) and is second in pass defense (149.1), third in scoring defense (12.0) and fourth in defense against the run (90.6) … QB Marcus Vick has completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 2,190 yards, 15 TDs and leads the ACC in passing efficiency (141.6) … for the second year in a row Frank Beamer was named ACC Coach of the Year … Cedric Humes (639), Branden Ore (591) and Mike Imoh (419) combined for 1,649 yards and 20 touchdowns from the tailback position … Ore, a freshman, averaged 6.0 yards per carry.
Wake Forest
The Deacons finished the 2005 season 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the ACC ... All-America punter Ryan Plackemeier leads the NCAA in punting average (47.2), the second-highest single season average in ACC history and finished his career as the ACC's all-time leading punter (45.26) … Chris Barclay finished his career 5th on the ACC career rushing list (4,032), 10th in all-purpose yardage (4,930) and tied for 25th in scoring (240) … Barclay leads the ACC in rushing (112.7) and is only the sixth player in ACC history to rush for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons … freshman Sam Swank made 19-of-24 field goals (79.2) and is 5th among all freshmen nationally in scoring (7.8).

0 - Clemson did not allow an offensive touchdown in wins over Florida State and South Carolina to close out the regular season, marking the first time one school has held a Bobby Bowden and Steve Spurrier offense out of the end zone in the same season.
