My Take On the 2021 Clemson Tigers and the UGA Game

I don't post much, and I shouldn't let an article about SEC sack hanger Finebald cause me to post. But this is more about us. Again, not much of a poster, but im on here reading alot and know the team like the back of my hand. Been going to home games since I was 3 yrs old. And 43 yrs later, im still on the steel seats cheering on Saturday. But I digress...
Here's the thing. Football, for all its intricacies and "games within the game", can at times be a very simple game. Issues can be very simple to diagnose. We were very young upfront. They were going on pure talent and played well at times. But at other times, they could get pushed around by bigger, older, and more technically sound off lineman (see Boston College, ND, and obviously OSU).
Imo, that won't be the case BY FAR this year. Think about it. Pinckney was a good DT...I like Foster alot at end. Thomas underperformed last year. But now...most likely Murphy, Bresee (one year further along...EVERY offense we play will be lookin for him before the snap), Davis, and maybe Masoli, Henry. Moving on, obviously Skalski and Spector will be there. Last year, we had Jones Jr trying to fill the big shoes of Simmons. Played hard but just wasn't gonna be terribly disruptive, especially against the type of off front i discussed above. This year, by all accounts, Simpson is one of the next greats. And very well has the tools to mirror the type of success Simmons had. Thats just my opinion.
So that is your front 7. The secondary looked lost at times last year. True. Did anyone take notice of the fact that, in the bigger games against the off lines I keep referencing, the opposing QBs could have sat down and read the newspaper while they waited on somebody to get open? It happened alot...like a whole lot. And if you go back and look deeper, it happened sometimes when we were bringing 5, 6, or even 7 on blitzes. And coach V had to do that alot cuz he couldn't get any pressure with the front 4 or 4 and an LB. This can make a great secondary look decent, and a decent one look bad.
Moral of the story: this D is going to look vastly different than last years. Like night and day. Again, imo. I think this front 4 and 7 overall is gonna be touted as one of the best in the country very soon, if ever body stays healthy.
Things sound good out of camp, but they always do. I still want to see our secondary play once they are getting the necessary help from the front, which I believe they will get.
When you stop the run and get to the QB sooner rather than later, it makes the entire thing run as it should. Thats why you gotta love football, man. For all the highlight reels and prima Donna skill players, the game is still won or lost up front.
My main concerns are: seeing the secondary as I said above (just a slight concern). I know that Dabo says Shipley is ready for the ring of honor and the RB stable is deep, but you don't just plug and play after an ETN. I thought Id never see a runner as violent as Gallman at Clemson....then ETN stepped on the field. And DJ is gonna be great. I don't want him to have to be great by himself, ya know. THANK GOD Ross is back because I have no concerns about the WRs now. TEs should be better and more involved. The oline...we been able to plug and play some incredible LTs the last 6 or 7 yrs. I hope this continues. I would say oline is my biggest concern until I see em go to war. Georgia's front is no joke.
I'm of the mindset, and have been for awhile now, that we will beat UGA by multiple scores. I think our offense will struggle at times in Charlotte, but put some stuff together as well. Maybe 40 or 50% 3rd conv %, some fgs, some TDs. They will battle. But I think we win going away because our D is gonna absolutely run s%%t that night. Daniels hasn't proven a thing to me, if im not mistaken he's got a main WR weapon out, their center is currently hurt and not practicing, and they got talent at RB that I hear are still trying to get the "light to come on". Just something I read somewhere. So, contrary to Mr. Finebalds take, I think the D is gonna introduce themelselves to the college football world in a big way.
Anyway...guess I felt like typing tonight. You know..its funny. I've been so removed from sports for the last however long, like everyone else. During the early summer, it didn't feel like it used to..counting down the days to fall camp, just dying for any piece of Clemson news. I began to wonder if my lifelong, diehard, get "tears in my eyes everytime they run the hill the first time each year" love of my Tigers had been snuffed out due to the world we are living in. I felt like a close relative had died...
But then media days came. Then camp started..and I began to dive headlong into each and every bit of news coming out. I didn't even notice it happening...but within just a few days of camp...that old familiar feeling was burning out of control again. And just as in every other year of my life of pulling for my Tigers, I find myself unable to stop thinking the same thought - Death Valley, lights on, late in the evening, with 83,000 of my closest friends, so loud you can't hear the person next to you, as the opposing offense has false start after false start. You can physically feel the emotion in the air. Its the best thing on the planet, bar none.
So...yeah...I think we beat the Dawgs pretty good. Or maybe im way off and we get whooped. Or maybe the Lambda Omega Tao variant shuts down the whole country again and things will go back to suckin donkey you-know-whats.
Somebody let UGA know theyre the next contestant on "Come Get You Some".
Let's go, Tigers.

My take on the 2021 Clemson Tigers and the UGA game. I post a lot. What happened last year has no bearing on this game. I'm not paid to evaluate talent. One team will win, one team will lose. Ten points one way or another.

Nice job. I agree with your assessment. The D line will make the back 7 better. My main concern is the O line, especially the middle. Hopefully another year in the weight room will be beneficial. Go Tigers

My only concern is that UGA turns up the cycles on the Bogus PCR test for the virus so dangerous you need a test to find out if you have it, and DJ is ruled out so the dawgs feast on our walk-ons.
Even then I think it would be down to the wire.
That, or they lock everything down again with this nonsense and there is no energy in the stadium.
If there were a pandemic you would see dead people EVERYWHERE. You wouldn’t have to run a $5B marketing campaign to tell me there was a pandemic.

Just read a very interesting article that Zanders played at 65% the whole 2020 season. Torn labrum and rotator cuff. He played through the pain. Even said his shoulder popped out of place at least every game. Wow…
Oh, and he put on 17 lbs.
Not good news for the pups.

I hope he's back to 100 percent. He seems to enjoy himself when he's out there, and I enjoy seeing that.
