Mike Bellamy

I read the Clemson Insider interview and had a thought. When Mike flunked out, I said then he was done for good at Clemson. I figured we had moved on and we would never see Mike in orange again. That was based on the well-known issue of juco credits not transferring to any of our majors.
I have renewed hope that Mike might actually suit up as a Tiger next year, however. Dabo says we're going to have a couple new majors that will allow those credits to transfer. So, I'm hopeful now that Mike will do well enough in the classroom to come back in a new curriculum. Also hopeful that he'll be able to make the grades at Clemson in that new curriculum.
You're one of us, Mike. Whether you make it back or no, you'll always be a Tiger. I hope to see you in DV next September. Keep your eyes on the prize.

and Bellamy is a REALLY good RB (when he holds onto the ball). BTW, I can't imagine that he's not worlds better than anybody they have out there. They must be playing him sparingly to keep things fair for the other guys

hasn't learned that offense well enough yet to take over. Kid has physical ability galore, but his dedication to study--whether the game or his classes--is less than ideal. I just hope he's grown up a whole bunch and will come back to us a rededicated team player.

I would absolutely love to see it happen, but if it actually happened, I would be flabbergasted. I wish Mike well, but I doubt he ever wears ORANGE again.

Since he made it through the clearinghouse in HS, he would have a better chance coming back.

Good lord imagine a bigger, stronger Bellamy in the backfield next year with the power backs we will have in Brooks and Dye? We will go from worrying about our backfield to wondering if there are enough touches to go around.
I'd take Mike back in a second if we wanted him. His statement with the Clemson Insider was pure class, it just shows you how much he's matured because he is man enough to stick with his original commitment and hopefully return to the team. Keep working hard Mike!

No he's at some JuCo in Arizona. I think a link was posted a couple posts above this from the Clemson Insider, it's a good read about him, check it out.

What year is Howard? And speaking of Howard, I think he has a ton of potential. I know he's gotten banged up a few times, but I still say he can be a great RB.

that Mike will continue to have problems holding on the ball simply because of the length of his forearm or something physical with him. I don't remember it honestly.. I do wish him the best and if gets his head straight, hope we can use him.

Here is my concern about Bellamy
Oct 31, 2012, 11:21 AM

He's not even the #1 running back on his JUCO team. For a highly recruited D1 prospect why is he not playing more at the junior college level? His school is 3-6 and he's getting no carries. I have my doubts that even if he comes back he'll be what we all thought he would be coming out of high school.

Apparently he's focusing more in the class room rather than football at JUCO, which is the smart thing to do. Its either that or he's having trouble with they're playbook too.

Ckeck his stats at Eastern Arizona. 50 yards on 15 carries in 6 games. 2 td's and 1 fumble. May be injured ?

Or he may be benched for other reasons. Have you forgotten why he got suspended for the ACC championship game? Bad grades were not his only vice.

He said he's doing well so far, I don't think he's having any off the field issues so far. I honestly believe its just more about grades for him over their. Theres no denying his football talent, all he needs to focus on is getting his grades up to par and bettering himself as a person....the football will always be their in some form if he can take care of the character issues and the classroom. If he does those 2 things...maybe, just maybe Clemson will give him another shot. I just really wouldn't get my hopes up right now tho....but deff hoping for the best for him.

Even if he came back it would only be with the intention (on his part) of only being here one year. Not worth the drama.

I would like to think the drama has been put behind him. As for whether it's worth it.......hmmmmmmmmm, let me think............###### YES! I would take him for one year in a heart beat. He'd have to project in the draft to forego his senior year, though. If he did nothing more than return kicks and punts, I'd suit him up.

I don't think creating a couple majors where we can transfer

juco credits is lowering our academic standards. If UNC can take partial qualifiers that are not welcome at Clemson, something is wrong.
BTW, Mike was qualified. He let his grades fall. If he earns the grades in juco and we somewhere we can transfer them, that's not lowering our standards. That's just being reasonable for a change.

Look, you seem like an old fart just like me (looking at youre handle) . I just don't like jucos unless u are rebuilding a devestated program which we are not.
I just want to keep a lil bit of "student" in student athlete
when I was there in the early 80's it was marginal. Lord knows what it is now . I just don't want the University and the Clemson family embarrassed like NC.
If these reduced standards are availabel to the general student population I guess I have no gripe, but that the value of my degree might diminish

My point is this: I don't think Dwight Jones either raised

or lowered UNC's academic standing. He was one student among thousands. Ironic that he wanted to be a Tiger and we wouldn't let him in. Tarheels? No problem.
There really shouldn't be an issue making room for a couple partial qualifiers and jucos. They still have to make acceptable grades once they get here. In the case of jucos, if they complete a two-year curriculum with an acceptable GPA, why shouldn't we be able to assimilate a few?

But I will go back to my previous arguement, why waste the resources when we have legit student athletes in the pipeline .
If we were hurting at that position, maybe . But I think another CJ or Andre is on the horizon .
I wish the young man the best .

Honestly, I love the way Tyshon Dye runs, so if Mike finds his calling somewhere else then so be it. Dye will be a fantastic RB for us. I'd stick with him over Mike - sorry.
