Florida was 16-11 sitting at #6 earlier this season.
They had lost multiple midweek games and with 11 losses still managed to be 6th.
Forget the “polls don’t matter” nonsense, I know they don’t. But you’re going to move us down 4 spots out of the top-5? For having one bad week?

But now that they have them there it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy for any wins or losses against them by other conference teams. Just like the Big12 in basketball this year.

I agree the Florida thing is beyond bizarre and i also think the polls are tilted towards the sec teams, however we were no.2 went 1-3 and dropped to 6 in one poll and 4 in another, 4 feels right to me, by contrast vandy was no.6 swept by now number 1 A&M and dropped 7 spots.

This was Clemson's first series loss of the season, and they weren't swept.

College sports in general is tilted towards the SEC. Follow the money. I’m hoping like heck we don’t join that conference. Just my opinion.

I think you're right on one level - i.e. in isolation, it does seem reasonable. But in isolation isn't the way to analyze it. Earlier in the season when Clemson was lighting the sky on fire, and was beating more ranked teams than the teams ranked above them, they were basically holding position and climbing just a bit after great and impressive results. And other teams who were going through rough spots or lost during the week would barely be dinged. But then when Clemson FINALLY loses a few in one week, BANG - they get no similar mild reaction as the others did. Clemson even now has more Top 25 wins than anyone ranked above them in either poll, and a better W/L percentage than 3 of those 5.
So, I'd say the drop seems reasonable in isolation, but is out of step w/ how they and other teams have been treated previously.

What on earth are you complaining about? We lost 2 games, and dropped. That's logical.
The 5 teams ahead of us have better records than we do.

I thought I made my point clear when mentioning Florida.
Who was #6 at 16-11 and losing 3 midweek games in a row.
You drop us 4 spots (D1 baseball)? They are so quick to drop us if one week goes mostly wrong.
I’m complaining because the committee will screw is and give us an insanely difficult regional

I think the polls were more than fair and was shocked we did not drop further.
I'm not a fan of conspiracies and the polls are out against us. they have been more than fair to Clemson. I understand the Florida point, but they've dropped out now and it seemed screwed for only a week or two

Now, to be clear, they aren't the end-all-be-all, they aren't decisive, and they don't matter as much as we intuitively tend to think . . . but if they didn't matter- as in, not in **any sense** at ALL, then we wouldn't have them and no one would bother to compile them. They are a reflection of the sense of things by those that follow and report on the game, and thus they certainly affect the committee's decisions just as in other sports. . . . maybe not universally (some teams will get in or not get in regardless of their particular poll placement), but on the margins they certainly can.
So no, they don't matter that much, but if they weren't important at all, they wouldn't even have them. IF they're gonna bother, they ought to drop the stupid bias.
