Recruiting Rankings is more important than his X & O ability

A coach can be very good with plays and the X's and O's but our recruiting ability has not been Top 25 like under this system. The style of play and the demands defensively or the negative emotion on sidelines is not getting the upper tier players to come to Clemson. Brownell let go his recruiting head a few years ago and continues to struggle in this area.

From 24/7 website the recruiting class ranks for Clemson Tigers nationally are:

Clemson recruiting rankings in 2022-ranked 32nd, 2021-ranked 47th, 2020-ranked 22nd thanks to PJ Hall, 2019-ranked 43rd, 2018-ranked 61st with Hunter Tyson 3 star. Chase Hunter 3 star. Hunter and Hemenway 3 star. PJ Hall 4 star. Middlebrooks, Sheiflen and Beadle 3 star. Godfrey, Wiggins and Dylan Hunter 3 star.

2022-94th nationally, 2021-66th nationally.
