Things like voter enthusiasm no longer matter now that every no information voter who wouldn't otherwise care less can have their vote harvested by community organizers at their front door.

Pool of ~200 picked at random from registered voters...

In this specific case...
Judge asks if anyone can't be impartial...whoever raises their hand is dismissed
Judge hands out questionnaire, then each remaining juror answers the questions on questionnaire. Lawyers have names and address of remaining jury pool and they look at social media posts, etc... looking for stuff. Lawyers can question jurors and try to get Judge to dismiss juror. After that, each side gets 10 dismissals (can't remember the real name that that's called and I believe 10 is the number...might be 12). Then they get 18 people out of what's left. 12 jurors and 6 alternates. If there aren't 18 ppl left, then they pull in additional pools, until they get 18.

"Pool of ~200 picked at random"... Therein lies the possible false premise.

I know from an experience I personally had in SC.
My father was regularly chosen for jury duty (usually every second or third session) for several years and was often jury foreman.
After his passing, I received a jury summons in my name (we had the same first/last but different middle), but when they called out HIS name in court, I stood up and said that "he's no longer with us". The quick snap of the neck and the look over his glasses that the judge gave the clerk of court was self-evident to me. He recouped well, though. "You'll do."
It was fine. My Major League baseball coach was on the jury and elected jury foreman. It was his second time in three years. Ended up, the guy decided to take the plea instead of going to trial and we had a nice conversation for about an hour.
Jury pools can be stacked and there's no way for the public to know the difference... well, at least then. Maybe it's changed.

My above example happened. How can select jurors, in this case two separate ones, be 'randomly picked' for jury duty every other session from a voter pool that probably exceeds 150k in a county that exceeds 300k residents? Statistical probability would be astronomical.
As to the above comment, the last time you brought up "conspiracy" I posted a video of WTC7 imploding. As usual, you ran...

tucking and running. I've engaged with you many times on it and it's pointless.
As for this thread, you are saying that the jury pool can't possibly be random in NYC because you had experience in a different town, in a different place (and maybe even different rules) some years ago that you are applying to everywhere...is that right?

Your example of fool proof jury selection is obsolete.
Political activists who are also political junkies have long ago learned that lawyers who screen potential jurors investigate the social media postings of each potential juror.
Maybe ~ 10 years ago, this practice of lawyers checking out a potential juror’s social media posts was not widely known. Heck, this practice might not have been widely known as recently as ~ 5 years ago.
Here in 2024, the activists know how the lawyers screen potential jurors for bias.
Once the activist potential juror knows the s teeming tactics, they adjust their information accordingly. Scrub their incriminating posts / pics from their social media accounts. Make political donations to lesser known activist organizations. Of course, also do the time-honored lying about their political predilections and any social behaviors that might reveal a strong correlation to those political predilections.
Thus, when a jury is selected in a district which is highly imbalanced as far as political party voter registration, the odds of an activist candidate juror getting past the net are high that said candidate belongs to the party which has the large majority of voter registrations.
As for the NYC / Trump trial, the question is whether at least one truly open minded + intelligent + analytically minded juror actually gets seated. If this happens, then Trump will win despite the biased judge and overwhelming anti-Trump sentiment among Manhattan voters.

and I don't recall ever saying anything about it being foolproof. Where did you get that from?
Also, you're speaking with specificity. How is it you know so much about how political activists get on juries? Are you making stuff up again?

Judge Merchan has 93 million reasons … and counting … as to why he has the same political views as his daughter.
BTW, Judge Merchan had regularly (and in the not distant past) donated to Democrat candidates.
In NY, however, none of this is grounds for judicial refusal on the basis of the appearance of reasonably possible political bias.
