FSU stadium renovations.

Posting this just in case anyone is planning on making the trip to Tallahassee this year.
The stadium is undergoing major renovations. I don't know enough to give you all the details, but the gist of it is they are upgrading the seating, adding more expensive "club level" seating, better concessions and rest rooms, etc.
The problem is the renovations will not be done by the 2024 season. I'm not sure how this will affect seating for the 2024 games. I know there will be some reduction in total seats. Just a warning. You might want to check with Clemson ticket office, or wherever you get road game tickets, and see what the situation is.

.... when it is finished. There are a couple of live webcams showing what it going on in real time. Right now they are removing seats completely. They will be replaced with some sort of temporary seating.
I'm not a big money booster nor a season ticket holder, so I'm getting info second hand. I do know that a lot of folks are upset becasue when it is all done the entire capacity will be reduced about 15K from what it is now (just over 80K).
I haven't gotten any sort of solid answer what it will look like this September.

Bret, I imagine the photo at the bottom of the link posted in the comment above your post shows the temporary seating for the upcoming season. Metal bleachers with seatbacks. It looks like a pretty complex construction project.

Does it include eliminating all the ACC signage? Will the new signs be B1G or SEC?

Tickets thru the CU ticket office to FSU are usually pretty lousy...

With a few exceptions, down low in the corner of the end zone.

I suspect they may even be worse this year.

But, I have not heard what the changes will be.
On the other hand, Doak doesn't have an upper deck, so it would be hard to give you worse seats than the usual lower section corner of endzone.

Holy Cow! You're only going to have 65,000 seats??? I just saw where North Carolina has a tiny 51,000 seat stadium.

That's what will happen to the Valley if they install chairback seating.***

Tennessee NC and UVA deep down don't care about football. The atmosphere is as about as far from the SEC as you can get. If there is a basketball scrimmage going on they will leave their football game in the middle of it for the basketball event. I guess the SEC could always use a couple more "Welcome" doormats though like S.C and Vandy. lol.

A lot of Nole fans are upset about that.

But, I'm sure folks who know a whole lot more than I do about finances and ticket sales and all that stuff have done due diligence and decided this is the way to go.
The leaders of the renovations talk about "enhanced game experience." People today are saying, "Why should I drive 3 hours to the stadium and sit on hard bleachers when I can sit at home and watch it on TV? Or, why should I spend a weekend, pay $400 bucks a night for two nights (the going rate in Tallahassee motels on game weekends)?
Answer - Make the stadium a more enjoyable place to watch a game. 1. Better concessions (the concession stands are horrible now. If you try to buy a coke at halftime you will miss the first five minutes of the third quarter.) 2. Better bathrooms. (They look like they were built in the 1950s, and most of them were.) 3. Wider seats. The current seats are something like 14 inches wide. (That means fewer seats.) 4. Chairback seats. 5. More "club level" seating. From the picture you can see what this will look like. Not luxury boxes, but better than general seating. 4. More luxury boxes.
I went to the ACC championship game in Charlotte. The stadium was a far more enjoyable experience than going to a game in Doak Campbell.

That place has always been an eyesore in the concessions area. Looks like a giant erector set.

That's basically what is was back in the day before they put that brick facade around it - It was called the erector set.
Losing 15k seats is a lot. If they ever do join the SEC they are going to need an upper deck for all the visiting fans from nearby schools. I believe Clemson would need more too. The B1G not so much as visiting fans will have much longer distances to travel. I think being in the B1G would be as bad or worse for the number of visiting fans as the ACC.

Yes, the SEC fans travel in robust numbers. It's untelling what will, or won't, happen but all the common SEC fans want Clemson and FSU with us. You are the two most SEC like than anything out there. I can't imagine FSU with only 65,000 seats. Heck, UF, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M and Alabama would bring half of that number if tickets were available to them. Tennessee probably 20,000.

Yep, the erector set.

That's what it was called until the circled it with brick buildings. Those buildings are a combination of dormitories, classroom buildings and faculty offices. Looks nice on the outside. But, when you walk in you can still see the erector set that holds up the seats.
