Cord cutting has essentially nothing to do with politics. This was inevitable even without ###### politics at ESPN/Disney.

Maybe several or all of the biggest broad casting companies with the exception of ESECPN/disney, would come together and do a hostile takeover of disney/esecpn, and then split the sports broad casting up according to the power they possessed during the takeover. Then sell disney/esecpn in pieces to make sure that it never in our life could become that powerful again

But Spectrum KNEW it was coming. You can't tell me that they didn't. That's not how you treat your customers, especially in the South where football is king. To allow that to happen the night before Week 1 games shows that Spectrum doesn't care.

for their britches and and a major carrier is standing up to it. It happening now just at the start of college football season is just an inconvenience to get customers to call somebody on it.

like the B10 and SEC. Left over scraps are for the rest.
Spectrum knew it was coming.

Thanks for posting. Very informative article. I have been aware of this trend of more and more difficulty in viewing live sports that interest me for a while. I am a soccer fan and the explosive growth in content providers has made watching the national team play ridiculous. Every nation sells their rights to a different provider so every road game seems like it is on a different network. It seems like this is only going to get worse.

No tears here for the media companies. Live large, die large. I may miss the accessibility of college games, but I'll get over it. I wish it could take the live news channels with it.

Might be better for us all to have the news media not spinning and omitting facts, but then we would not have information to realize how corrupt our government has gotten. Both Dems and Republicans. You scratch my back I will scratch yours is our current system with everyone lining each others pockets.
Why do we have a fear of voting the fossils out of office? Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein, McConnell, etc. Heck, when I was in SC how long did we keep Strom Thurmond in.

I've had the Charter/Spectrum internet/cable bundle for over 25 years and have been pleased with the service but not the prices. I feel compelled to keep the internet since I've had the charter email as my primary email address all those years.
But if Spectrum doesn't keep ESPN because of the Disney bundle, then all of us sports junkies have to find a streaming service that does and the internet + streaming bills will approach the $$ level of the bundle anyway. How bad do we want it or need it?

THe money won't be there, and all the conference realignment will look really stupid.

I didnt read this article but i read a couple others. ESPeNis has pushed its weight around for a long time. Someone finally stood up to them. Its time. This could be resolved, but it sounds like both sides are firm. I think ESPeNis has to stay stick to their guns and not give in because of what could happen if it backs down. All it takes is one.
