Re: I guess they just looked at the fact Memphis had two losses

What i've heard 'them' say is that Memphis is actually a pretty good ball team. So maybe as the season progresses, and they continue to have success/rankings, then this sting will be less acute.
Also, all the metrics/rankings/abbreviations and how they can be so drastically different...it's like the federal government runs the NCAA.

Only one of those rankings is generated by the NCAA

And Bama's net is better than ours after losing again. 1-4 against q1 and we're 3-1 q1. But it'll get worked out by late January.
Said in pre-season we'd win the acc and nothing to date has changed.

With our team name being "Clemson Tigers", I expected we would drop completely out of the rankings bc we're never given the same respect as an sec team would be given...

I assume the pollsters looked unfavorably on us losing to an unranked team.

Basketball polls are very different from football polls.
You usually don't drop much for a single close loss to a decent team.
It makes it hard to move up but once you've moved up, it takes several loses to move down.
Unless you're Clemson...

If it was UNC, Duke they wouldn’t have gone down 5 spots. Most likely stayed where they were.

Stuff just like what is going on now is what makes that NET crap meaningless to

me. We beat an UNBEATEN Coot squad, which at the time was a Quad 1 win. We sent them on a downward spiral, now that win is already only a Quad 2 win. That's revisionist history, and whoever thought of it should be drawn and quartered and FED to chickens!

Sorry but no. It doesn’t matter what a team is ranked when you play them. Their end of season record is much more indicative of how good they really were.
The rankings and metrics early in the season are extremely volatile due to small data sets. The same is true in every sport. Even football.

Sorry, but sorry to your no no. In any sport, especially in basketball, one key

injury can completely change the fortunes of a team. Does that mean they were that bad when they played YOU, and they had all their players healthy, and playing at a high level? Absolutely NOT. It is REVISIONIST HISTORY.
I will use Texas win over Alabama in football as an example. Let's say, just for the sake of supposition, that AFTER that game, Ewers and a couple more key players for Texas got hurt, Texas lost several games, and did NOT win the Big 12. Should that diminish their win over Alabama? If so, then Bama should CERTAINLY not get into the playoffs over an unbeaten FSU team.
Now, in reality, that did not happen. Texas kept playing at a high level, so that looked like a "good" loss for Bama. But, why should it matter? Both teams were STOUT, and highly ranked at the time of that encounter. Timing HAS to count for something.

But that’s not what happened, and it’s not what usually happens. You are detailing one specific scenario, but we have to have a system that has to analyze tens of thousands of basketball games.
Did Duke have a top 10 win last year because they beat us? No.
When we routinely beat a marginally top-25 undefeated Syracuse team and send them off to lose 5 more games, is that a good win? No.
Teams are mid-ranked routinely all over the board in the early season. South Carolina being undefeated in early December means nothing if they finish last in the SEC. It won’t be an impressive win on our resume.
