Who is your least favorite former Clemson football player

I know Terry getting a lot of love right now. I always feel “once a Tiger, always a Tiger” to be a great thing.
Chad Kelly had some issues here, but I read in recent years he said positive things about the staff and University and took some responsibility.
Time will tell with Terry. I am passionate about defending my kids. We all make mistakes and whoever made it, it doesn’t really matter. There wasn’t any physical abuse and if that is how soft he wants to raise his kids then it’s his prerogative.
So I suppose my least favorite former player would be Van Smith. It is nobody’s fault that you could not live up to your potential and to bad mouth a school and to make something out of nothing, is just bad character.

Exactly. There isnt even a close 2nd. All of these other complaints about these other players are meaningless compared to Craig's brutality and cruelty.

Do they not do ANY background checks in Tenn? I'm surprised he could work with children after the original domestic violence incident, but he was working with children after another incident at a different daycare!

they unretired the number, not the actual jersey. This is why the jersey should be retired, not the number.

Correct. The number. My fault. But my point remains. A retired number is retired! I didn’t like the DW4 thing either but at least he won us a national championship

Speaking of, did Kelly Bryant back off some of the statements he made when he decided to transfer? Or did he stick to them?

Well let’s see, he screwed up his arm throwing for baseball Scouts when it was cold outside, and his best friends got into a fatal car accident while coming to watch him playing a game, which resulted in him being depressed and wanted to be away from the game. All of that seems pretty out of his control to me. Easy to see why he would no longer want to play football after all that. Don’t think Roscoe deserves to be on any list of least favorite Clemson players.

Roscoe had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was too young to deal with the life of a professional athlete and college student IMO. I can't imagine the pain he felt to find out his friends died in an accident en route to watch him play. He was a special talent.

I do not hate the guy…I do know Roscoe had a lot of upside. Never heard any of this on the personal side. I had always thought he took his baseball money and rode off into the sunset and I did get a little bitter about it seeing 5 stars were not coming to Clemson in those years. Thanks for setting me straight!

If not, I don't know how you can say that there was no abuse.
I don't think there was, but to definitively state that nothing happened and that anyone who disagrees is "soft" is quite the statement if you weren't there.

I am saying according to Kinard nothing physical happened. We as people, have become easily offended over every criticism. The older generation on here knows and can testify that have become soft as a society. Of course, I know you feel the part of victim, because you are so easily triggered by criticism of Brownell. Bless your heart!!

The issue here seems to be verbal abuse, so I'm not sure why you brought up physical abuse. No one accused Dabo of that, nor is there any reason to suspect it.
I don't care if you or anyone else here criticizes Brownell. I think he's a great coach whether you agree or not.
Also, Brownell has nothing to do with this issue, yet you brought him up. That is truly being soft and easily triggered.

He can’t say what happened, “doesn’t think” there was abuse, but thinks Dabo was emotionally immature for his response. Makes sense. Wish everyone would just flag his posts until it reaches the point that he devotes his energy to the two other boards he does the same schtick on.

I wasn't there.
But there has been an allegation of verbal abuse.
If you expect any other coaches or players to publicly state that they witnessed abuse by Dabo, you're living in fantasy land. No one would dare say that if they want to keep their position on the team.
Again, we don't know what happened, and as I've said the truth is likely somewhere in the middle of what Terry Kinard said and what Dabo said. But this rush to defend Dabo and call the Kinards soft/weak/triggered/entitled when you weren't there to see it for yourself is just weird.

since there is an accusation of it.
It doesn't mean that verbal abuse happened, but it certainly raises the possibility that it did.
Reflexively saying that Dabo did nothing wrong and Jaden Kinard is a soft, entitled kid doesn't show that you're interested in better understanding what actually happened.

Hit the flag

Your worst and most blatant troll on this whole topic. You have attacked Dabo’s character including calling him “immature” amongst other pejoratives since this arose. You have defended Kinard and offers no counter-criticism. But now you “don’t think” there was abuse. Without the abuse this is a complete non-story. Kinard’s specific use of the word “abuse” is the only reason this could remotely rise about a simple player/parent/teacher(coach) dispute that should never have been aired publicly. And now, after clearly picking sides, you try to equivocate that “don’t believe” the only meaningful part of the allegation. Post is therefore clearly insincere and a form of trolling - a violation of TOS. Obviously they choose not to enforce this policy against you but users can’t effectively end your engagement by hitting the flag.

It's hard for me to even type, but Deshaun has to be up there. And I know he hasn't been charged criminally with anything. But the dude has seemed completely unapologetic for any of his actions, and has acted nonchalant about things while in Cleveland. Heck, even Tiger Woods went on an apology tour after his indiscretions. Deshuan needs to humble himself some. He's not my least favorite necessarily, but my days of defending the guy are long gone.

Well, my answer is a little different. This isn't my least favorite player, but the one I've been most disappointed in since he left Clemson, Deshaun. They say that money can change people and maybe that's the case. The massages and sexual harassment lawsuits, hanging out with #### stars, signing a big deal with a team (after they traded DHop and Watt by the way) and then demanding a trade, and then what seems to be a lost work ethic in Cleveland. I still root for him, and always think fondly of the memories, but disappointed.

Reading this thread is enlightening. There sure a lot of haters in the world. Some of this stuff is just nonsense.

I have to honestly say I don't have a least favorite.
All the interactions I've had with the team, players, and coaches have always been positive. As for accusations, rumors, and mishaps that occur after a player leaves, I try not to rush judgment. I don't know a lot about players before my time, but I do understand times change and things are different with every generation. But, I try not to be negative and just enjoy pulling for the greatest university ever!
GO TIGERS!!!

Fill me on van Smith. Why are so many down on him? I've seen him mentioned several times.

Not one to dwell on why I dislike former players or people in general... but I read the posts and there isn't a clear consensus #1, which reflects well on the history of the program. Sure there's transfers and hot heads, but none seem to be overwhelmingly disliked.
