UGA Former HC / Advisor on UGA Recruiting

Basically briefed the Savannah QB Club that UGA believes they can successfully recruit any player on any high school or college team in the country. And have a damm good shot at convincing them to attend UGA. UGA literally watches tape, scouts and identifies the top players on top SEC and Top 25 teams, picks out who UGA needs for the next year, and makes it happen. Hard to beat.

... But expect the Selection Committee to file this UGA/FSU game away and use it as a reference whenever there is a future choice between an SEC and ACC/other conference selection choice.

Maybe HitsLikeRendrickTaylor ... but does Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, LSU and Texas go to playoff vs. FSU and Clemson at no. 11 and 12 seeds ... etc. etc.

No, because the top 4 seeds have to be conference champions.

No doubt

But at least we, meaning the ACC, can’t be shut out completely, which I thought was the point. If we are fighting for the 11 or 12 spot and don’t get in vs an SEC school so be it… it’s like complaining about being left out of the NCAAT as a 67 or 68 seed… you ain’t winning it and didn’t do enough to get in and compete any ways, so don’t complain. You won’t hear me complaining if we are 13 and could’ve been 11 or 12, we obviously didn’t take care of business.

This was about a team who had lost their QB and when the back up showed he wasn't anywhere nearly as capable as the starter, which is true of all of the top teams, they fell out of the top four they had been elevated into. Too many teams chasing 4 spots meant somebody had to be left out.
They got it right, obviously

Kirby is relentless in recruiting. Relentless.
Ironically, they use the portal very very sparingly and rely on recruiting top kids and developing them.
We should emulate that and what teams like Bama in Texas do.

We don't have Bama/ Texas money. We have to do it a different way like we always have.

Clemson has one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the country. Kinda hard to play the “ we can’t compete financially” card. It’s about having top recruiters with connections across the southeast and evaluating talent. Bad hires 3 years ago is one reason UGA overtook Clemson and finished 6th in the ACC

UGA uses the portal very well to help empty the bottom quarter of their roster every year. That is very important in order to bring in promising new talent from their scouting

They only to 4 players in the portal and had something like 19 players transfer out. Alabama only took 2 players in the portal.

So that makes them unique along with at least ten other programs. Don’t kid yourself - Kirby is a ruthless a-hole but there are many others in the coaching ranks.

And there’s the young ladies on the recruiting staff. I guess it’s bo big deal to most. Even though it’s morally reprehensible.

2 National Championships. A 13-1 season. *12 team playoff coming up.
Again, if it’s not illegal I say more power to them. That’s being “All In” and reinforcing the “Best is the Standard” mantra.

Sounds like Socman has some real inside info here. LOL.
The committee selection of Alabama instead of FSU has nothing to do with the ACC and the SEC or even UGA recruiting. It is simply an accurate reflection of the fact that Bama is a much better team. FSU is way overrated. The committee got it right.

Yes, as someone alluded to above, UGA can share with recruits the job description of their "recruiting staffers" and reel in anybody they want.
