I think there’s quite a few more than just 1 play that needs to be taken back.

Go back and look at the footage of the Duke QB breaking free of Barrett Carter, supposedly one of the best linebackers in football. Hit pause just as the QB breaks free of Carter. You will see two things that explain what happened: (1) Another Clemson player fell on Carter just as he got his hands on the QB’s legs; that loosened his grip; (2) Look at the excellent blocking by the Duke OL. That partly explains why our vaunted defense had no sacks. (Notice that I do not mention the Duke QB’s name. I can’t remember it. A nobody whose first sport in high school was basketball beat us.)

I was thinking the same thing. Woodaz came in relief and played more soundly. I honestly thought maybe Boulware was back out there letting running back run wide open again.

What gets to me more than anything, is these guys saying we know what we did wrong, and we know how to correct it. I ask, didn't they all know what they're admitting knowing after the game, before the game. They watched the film on Duke last season, and they knew that most of those play makers were back, did they actually feel that those guys didn't get any better than they were last year, and they were the ones that got better. That is where it goes from an explanation for losing the game, to making excuses!!!

I expected our defense to be stifling, elite and to be led by the best linebackers in the nation. Arm tackling and out of shape were not on my list.

Nothing they say is helping. Reminds me of Streeter stupid sayings after poor performances. Fix it Dabo, we love you man.

That play really surprised me as a big Carter fan

But the Duke QB was stronger than Carter on the play, wanted it more, and broke the arm tackle -- it was a costly play and an encapsulation of the entire game.

The usual situation is that one good player beats another good player.
Sometimes the good player that gets beat is one of ours.
This happens every game for every team.
Carter didn’t say that the broken tackle was anyone else’s fault. He’s owning up to it like a man.

I appreciate him saying he will not let that happen again but poor tackling was an issue the whole game. There has to be major improvement on both sides of the ball for this next game ( see I said next game not 14 games).

There was also the wide open wheel route to the Duke RB. From what I can tell that was a coverage bust from Carter. I think he had man to man responsibility on the RB.

The sad thing is that we didn't see anyone really try to chase Leonard down after he broke free of Carter and ran 44 yards. Wiggins had a shot, but was misaligned and got smoked. Honestly, the only impressive effort we saw all night to catch a Duke ball carrier was Cade chasing a defender down after our goalline fumble. Tiger defense appeared neither hungry nor conditioned. I expected much better.
