I heard UNCheat is now offering coloring by numbers as a major to D1 athletes. This explains a lot.

I believe there is more to this story but we will never know. This guy seems to be hiding something.

I'd like to take issue with the word "Committed"

Which means basically nothing today. Basically it means - Maybe'd. College recruiting and "commitments" now are like a swinger's party (so I'm told) - where there IS no commitment and people are free to come and go to whomever they want for however long they want. Maybe we should change it from "I have committed to" to "I presently prefer ____________ pending a potential change of priorities, payments, and preferences." At least you'd get a lot of alliteration that way.

Agree. Living in NC, I would rather he go anywhere but there. It is painful!

I guess there is one positive side to the transfer portal, a walk-on being able to earn a full ride scholarship. Good for him and his family, for those with kid(s) in college we know just how daunting financially it is. Just hopes he misses everything when UNC comes to town.

Boyd certainly sounds deserving, and it's a no-brainer. Sounds like he closed the gap with Gunn this year but not enough to win the job. He wanted to be at Clemson. Hopefully, Swinney picked the right one. Boyd gets free tuition and a UNC diploma -- despite the naysayers, a school to which many cannot achieve admittance.

I don't disagree that UNC has continued to maintain an outstanding academic reputation in spite of the facts surrounding the scandal.
In that regard, their lawyers were brilliant; they knew the public would not hold UNC's graduates accountable for the well-documented fraud that they very well might have been privy to or a recipient of, so the decision to acknowledge that the fraud pervaded more than just the athletic programs, and therefore exceeded the NCAA's purview, kept the basketball program competitive when it should have been on life support.
My daughter is a VP of HR for her company. I have asked her multiple times if she knew she was allowed to, even obligated to, challenge the academic credentials of any Tarheel graduate from the years in question. She tells me to shut up, because she doesn't plan on inviting a lawsuit.
In fact, I think Clemson and Wolfpack fans are the only people in the world who refuse to forget about it. Even Duke and Wake fans moved on after snickering behind their cuffs for a moment.

And incidentally, I hope the best for the young man. Mack Brown is a great guy.
Unfortunately for us, he probably earned his UNC scholly by splitting the pipes from 51 in Death Valley. That may be very significant when the Heels come calling this fall.

Kid is going to be a star, he stood out in the spring game kickoffs and field goals. That 51 yarder would have been good from 61...
