The network made cuts indiscriminate of who/what drives value.
Collage Gameday is ESPN’s most popular show with over 2MM viewers an episode for over 3-hrs. Pollack added value to the product.
Suzy Kolber is one of the very best in the business. She’s earned her stripes perhaps more than any other woman covering the NFL. KNOWS the game and the league. She hosted NFL Live for over a decade.
In my experience, firing talent in socialistic fashion is what poor companies do.

I tend to agree. Both are odd choices to cut IMO.

There were much more obvious candidates for fat cutting.

I would tend to agree but they also cut 2 racists in Jalen Rose and Keyshawn Johnson.
They should’ve gotten rid of that POS Mia Kimes. She would be a perfect candidate for that #### show The View.

I’ve only watched a few segments of The View. I can’t get into it. Seems a lot of folks like yourself reference it and are avid watchers. Not judging. If it appeals to you then so be it. Good for you hunter of bowls. Good for you.

They believe that is the direction the public is heading.
In that sense, they are following the lead of MSNBC, CNN, FoxNews etc. Reporting sports is less and less important. Opinionating on sports is more and more important.

ESPN could have terminated Pat McAfee (new contract 5-year, $85M), Stephen A Smith, and Lee Corso (like the man, but he needs to go), and saved the value-added names like David Pollack and Suzy Kolber.

I guess most of y'all have only ever seen McAfee on College GameDay, but his YouTube show is extremely popular. I don't much like him, but the younger folks do.

I played in a pro-am for former PGA Pro Fulton Allum and Lee Corso was on my team. He was the absolute biggest A$$ Hole I have ever had the displeasure of playing golf with......... I hope he is fired. FYI

And straight-up stuff, not sugar coated, politically correct crap. That is why Trump won the last 2 elections (the last one was tampered with big time but he won and we all know it).

Lady comes from a military family and loves our men and women in uniform.
She has far more brain than most on the World Wide Leader and even has the cajones to defy the politically correct on topics like vaxx and Covid.
I like her a lot. Which probably means Disney brass would like to see her go.

My bad, Socialistic.
In my experience, small-minded tribalistic folk need to make everything political.

Good companies practice something called “creative destruction.” What does that mean, a curious, less-inhibited mind might ask?
It means that these companies identify what is working and not working and make aggressive changes as to run to the daylight of innovation.
Think companies that made buggy whips when the automobile came out. They all quickly pivoted, or they found themselves out of business.
The creative destruction process can be fast and violent.
So we turn to ESPN today. The network is hemorrhaging in no small part because a portion of their programming content injects social issues and politics and is running off viewers. They had a chance to review success, review failure, and make stark selections to eliminate the buggy whips and embrace the flying car. They didn’t. They cut evenly(fairly) and broadly, then told themselves that people just need to understand the buggy whip better and it’ll sell.
I actually think the Pat M. hire is a good one and is the only example in these recent moves that feels like creative destruction.
Most of the rest ignores any lessons learned, which tells one all they need to know. There will be more pain, more layoffs, more disappointment at ESPN going forward.

I simply disagree. I do not think that ESPN is failing because they are interjecting too many social justice warrior-themed programming/issues. Nor do I think any of that had to do with Pollack being removed. I mean, I do agree that it was a bad move.
Anyway, it's ok to agree to disagree.
I could be a little gun shy with the policiation of EVERYTHING on here. It's exhausting.

SEC network is well run and does a great job, unlike the ACC network. I bet they ###### up Pollack in short order. Something has to be done to get the ACC network on track.
