My guess is that Clemson has an offer from a conference

...or they are planning to ask for a bigger share of the ACC money. It wouldn't make sense to start a lawsuit without a definite plan already in the works.

We 100% have an offer, through back channels, from another conference. We don't get to the point of a lawsuit without those guarantees. ####, according to the ACC, we tried negotiating with the ACC to get out before the lawsuit, which means we have a home once we're free and clear.

media rights if they were to leave. If ruling states that they retain those rights, then they are more attractive to other leagues and at that time an invitation may be forthcoming.
Also challenging the exit fee should they be in position to leave(landing spot in hand).

Fully agree with your comment as I am pretty sure we do not have an offer at this point. The first step is figuring out the costs and parameters of leaving. The lawsuit will accomplish this and also put pressure on the ACC.

anymore at the Power Four level. It certainly doesn't in the SEC or Big 10.

What we knew of college sports changed radically when Sanke and the SEC took Texas and OU a couple years ago. That set the stage for the B1G needing to respond by adding the PAC powerhouses. The SEC and the B1G can destroy two of the P5's and there was no outcry. Everybody was okay with Texas, OU, USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington looking out for their best interests, but somehow FSU was labeled as the villain by media talking heads for subsequently being proactive in looking out for their best interests. Hilarious how that played out when you think about it. This has clearly turned into a situation in which every power program has to look out for themselves. Clemson is one of those programs and needed to jump into the fight for our own best interests.
I think the ACC will go in a similar fashion as the PAC did. The two major powers (Clemson and FSU) will go to the P2 and a couple others (possibly UNC and UVA) will ride their coattails to the P2. What's left will merge with the B12 and form the second tier of major college football.

Not sure I agree with that. I think our suit has more to do with gaining leverage in future negotiations, particularly with respect to our media rights.

We'll have to see how our cases work out. We may get a preview, as the FSU cases will likely be decided before ours goes to court.

Most of you guys start off by saying it is my guess. That is only what it is at this time. Very few people know what is going on.

Technically, a conference cannot make a team an offer.
Also, the conference isn't paying the GOR stuff, the networks are. So why would ESPN pay Clemson more in the SEC when they can get Clemson for less in the ACC.
None of this makes any sense.

I said several years ago that when Texas and OU left the Big 12 that the ACC should have picked a 2 or 4 Big 12 schools to join the ACC, renegotiated their deal with ESPN and maybe picked up some Tier 2 Fox deal it would have made the ACC the 3rd premier conference and pick up some western games.
I'm not saying I am right but I was surprised the crickets on this board about it. The ACC leadership as well as the ACC universities blew it and its destruction is what they get. Sad.

It isn't "news" that people would have an interest in us IF we can extract ourselves from the ACC and GOR. The problem is the second part of that statement is not a short putt...
