For those who don’t have any issue with unregulated NIL in colllege, do you also support the same for high school athletes? I realize there would be some challenges for someone in government run schools as they would have to move into different school zones (which could be done with a hefty NIL payment), but not so for private schools. If the thought of amateur sports in college no longer being practical because of the money it brings in, why not apply the same where high school coaches are being paid more than teachers and administrators?
It has been in a few states already. If a business thinks signing an agreement with a high school student will enhance their business or local football team, fine. If the athlete is a minor, they can't sign a contract and be held to it with any teeth, so good luck on that. I don't think it would be money well spent but I'm not close enough to a Texas High School football factory to know for sure.
