LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville has suspended senior guard Chris Jones for a violation of team rules, leaving the No. 12 Cardinals without their assists leader and third-leading scorer for Wednesday night's Atlantic Coast Conference game at Syracuse.
The school's brief release Tuesday night did not specify what rule Jones broke or how long his suspension will last, only that he will not travel with Louisville to face the Orange (16-9, 7-5). Jones is averaging 13.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and a team-best 3.7 assists per game for the Cardinals (20-5, 8-4 ACC), who aim to bounce back from Saturday's home loss to North Carolina State.
Jones scored a team-high 20 points for Louisville in the 74-65 loss.
