207 - Clemson Rushed for 207 Yards vs Wake as Dabo Tied Record for Most Wins

Clemson leaned on its powerful running game for 207 yards this season against Wake Forest. Afterward, Dabo Swinney walked out Death Valley tied with Frank Howard for the most victories in Clemson football history.
According to ClemsonTigers.com:
Clemson’s defense set the tone and the running game picked up 207 yards to lead the Tigers (4-2, 2-2 ACC) to a 17-12 win over Wake Forest (3-2, 0-2) at Memorial Stadium on Homecoming. With the win, Head Coach Dabo Swinney earned his 165th career victory to tie College Football Hall of Famer Frank Howard (165 from 1940-69) as the winningest head coach in Clemson history.
Will Shipley’s touchdown run late in the fourth quarter gave the Tigers some breathing room, and the Tigers recovered an onside kick with 1:34 to play after a Wake Forest touchdown. Phil Mafah ran for 33 yards on the game’s final drive to help Clemson run out the clock to defeat the Demon Deacons for the 15th straight time in the series.

After the win over Wake, the win totals of Clemson’s top three winning football coaches were as follows:
Dabo Swinney (2008-2023): 165-41 (.801) * - Conference Championships: 8 - National Championships: 2 - Bowl Record: 11-8
Frank Howard (1940-1969): 165-118-12 (.580) - Conference Championships: 8 (6 ACC, 2 Southern) - Bowl Record: 3-3
Danny Ford (1978-1989): 96-29-4 (.760) - Conference Championships: 5 - National Championships: 1 - Bowl Record: 6-2
* Of note: Since that game, Dabo’s record has since updated to 170-43 and 12-8 in bowl games.

207 - Grady Jarrett Registered 207 Tackles (Most of them Vicious) for Clemson

Grady Jarrett was a man among boys in the college game. He was not heavily recruited due to his size. But Dabo saw something special in him – and then had to convince his staff as to why he was offering Jarrett.
Grady Jarret’s Recruitment:
Great story about Jarrett from AtlantaFalcons.com:
Jarrett was an undersized defensive lineman who hadn't received many scholarship offers at the time. But within minutes of stepping onto the grass at Swinney's camp, Clemson's head coach couldn't keep his eyes off Jarrett – a player he knew absolutely nothing about.
"He came into our camp and I couldn't stop watching him … he was unbelievable," Swinney said. "His motor, the look in his eye, his competitiveness. He was undersized and he beat everybody. It didn't matter who you put him against, it didn't matter if you put him at defensive tackle or defensive end, he won every matchup. What was amazing to me was he would go and get right back in line. He just kept going, I was so impressed with him."
…
When Swinney met with the rest of the coaches on his staff, he had many "spirited" debates about Jarrett. Some of the coaches questioned his size. Some questioned his strength. But Swinney didn't care, Jarrett was worth betting on.
"I'm going to offer this guy [I told my staff]," Swinney said. "If he turns out to stink, I'll say, 'Hey, that's on me.' I'm putting my name on this guy. This guy is going to make our football team better." And that's exactly what he went on to do.
Jarrett went from being a three-star recruit out of high school to the captain of the Tigers' football team in his senior season. Not only was Jarrett the best player on Clemson's defense in 2014, even more importantly, he helped build the culture at one of the most prolific college football programs in the country that will be in place for years to come.
https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/the-moment-dabo-swinney-knew-before-anyone-else-grady-jarrett-was-going-to-be-gr#:~:text=Jarrett%20was%20an%20undersized%20defensive,he%20knew%20absolutely%20nothing%20about.
Grady Jarrett at Clemson:
It seemed to work out rather well. Here are Jarrett’s stats from ClemsonTigers.com
The team’s top interior defensive lineman, one of the team’s best leaders and one of the team’s strongest players in 2014 … had 207 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 37 quarterback pressures, one pass breakup, two caused fumbles and four recovered fumbles in 1,642 snaps over 48 games (37 starts) in his career.
2014: 73 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 12 quarterback pressures, two caused fumbles and one recovered fumble in 530 snaps over 13 games (13 starts) - Permanent team co-captain - Third-team All-American by Athlon - First-Team All-ACC selection (media, coaches) - First-team All-ACC by Athlon, College Sports Madness, ESPN and Phil Steele
2013: 83 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, 14 quarterback pressures and two recovered fumbles in 539 snaps over 13 games (13 starts). - Honorable Mention All-ACC selection (media, coaches)
2012: 49 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, 10 quarterback pressures, one pass breakup and one recovered fumble in 512 snaps over 13 games (11 starts) - Honorable mention sophomore All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com - Honorable Mention All-ACC selection (coaches) Co-defensive player-of-the-year by the coaching staff
2011: 2 tackles in 61 snaps over nine games
https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/grady-jarrett/
Due to his size, Jarrett became a steal for the Atlanta Falcons in the 5th Round of the 2015 Draft. Grady Jarrett today is one of the Top 100 ranked players in the NFL.
Personally, I am not a fan of rap music, but this highlight video of Jarrett shows his greatness (rap music accompaniment and all): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKh1NjHxDTI

Very special for sure!!
Here is a great quote from his Falcons DL Coach that sums up Grady Jarrett (from the AtlantaFalcons article cited above):
"I tell everybody to do me a favor and tell him that he can't do it," said Falcons defensive line coach Jess Simpson. "The first thing you ought to know about Grady Jarrett is every time he's told he can't do something, man, he's going to do it."

time could already goo goo dada dada out, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Maximus and Severus. But for some reason, the Wickedpedia only seems to want to record deeds that happened in China, not in the Roman Empire. As a matter of fact, for this year, there is only one event, period, recorded.
Battle of White Wolf Mountain: Warlord Cao Cao defeats the Wuhuan tribes, sending the Wuhuan into decline. (They would strike back centuries later with the Wuhuan Flu, more commonly known as Covid-19.)
207 years ago, it was the year 1817. News of the year...
March 4 - James Monroe is sworn in as the fifth President of the United States.
June 12 - German inventor Karl Drais drives his dandy horse ("Draisine" or Laufmaschine), the earliest form of bicycle, in Mannheim. On that same DAY, Tradesman Jeffery Sedwards establishes the Skibbereen Abstinence Society in Ireland, considered the first organisation devoted to teetotalism in Europe. He must have known there would be a need to ensure that peoples would not try to ride bicycles while drunk. He was correct in that assumption.
June 22 – King Ferdinand VII of Spain, by royal decree, makes the production and sale of tobacco a legal endeavor in Cuba, thus sparking the birth of the Cuban cigar industry.
August 15 – By act of the U.S. Congress (March 3), the Alabama Territory is created by splitting the Mississippi Territory in half, on the day the Mississippi constitution is drafted, four months before Mississippi became a U.S. state.
October 17 – Frigate HMS Trincomalee is launched in Bombay for the British Royal Navy; she will still be afloat two centuries later. Now THAT is some sturdy wood right there!
November 20 – The first Seminole War begins in Florida.
