I hope you continue them! Hopefully Clemson can announce something within a year or two. The sooner the better!
I hope we join the SEC!

Also David, from Clemson's share of the money we made by going to the playoffs and the Natty games, don't Clemson have to pay for all their expenses out of their share, and if that's correct, everybody else actually has more money to spend on their programs than Clemson will from their share bc they won't have all the expenses that Clemson will have to spend from their "Equal Share" that the other ACC schools won't have?

I would love to, since we get much less $$$ if we can get in the SEC!
Staying in tje ACC, would price us out of competing for National Championships in ALL sports. That would suck!
Thanks for the info David. Keep us informed please.

Love the videos. I agree with you. Follow the money or get left behind. I do feel gamecocks and bulldogs will try to block getting in the SEC.

Sankey won’t let them block it. It is in the SECs best interest to have Clemson and FSU in the SEC instead of the B1G.

Question…
2
Apr 28, 2023, 1:49 PM
|
|
In your opinion, would SC / Florida hinder Clemson and FSt from joining?
A&M couldn’t stop Texas from joining so I believe it’s a mute point but others have mentioned it and brought it up.
Would love to get your take on that. Thank you!

Would they rather have us go to the B1G and give the B1G a footprint in SEC territory?

Good stuff David - keep the videos coming. Would also like to hear your opinion on whether USC and/or UGA can block, or influence, the decision to allow Clemson in the SEC, if the SEC ever does become interested in adding us.

No, they can't--the SEC office decides who gets into the conference. See Tennessee Volunteer's post below.

Thanks for the info. Boy that’s a lot of 💵💵💵. When you see it in black and white. Clemson must do something or will just get left behind.

If the SEC office wants you then you will be in without any 'no' votes. It is more important to do what is right for the conference than for any individual team. The SEC schools always move forward together as one. How come no one mentions as we get into the later portions of the tv contracts the SEC will pay out more per team than the B1G?

I hope you are not right because if you are, we might well find ourselves missing the NC schools as our greatest impediment. Being the new guy on the block, even with what we perceive as having a much to offer as Clemson does, a situation such as you describe could suggest whatever might be or vote on any particular issue could count for less than 1 vote.

Won't Be a Popular Take David

But I would look for Coach Swinney to leave Tiger Town in a few years if B1G and SEC coaches are making $8-$10 million more per year than ACC coaches, and TV revenue becomes funneled into NIL 9along with top players) as I would anticipate. No hard feelings to Dabo, and we know he would use his money for the greater good, but IMHO he would not leave that money, a large portion of which could be donated to good causes, on the table.

I agree. Thanks David. I read those comments too. It doesn't mean that we move to conference A or B we'll instantly get better in volleyball, or women's basketball etc. But it's the exposure.
The selling point of come to university x because you'll be playing against top competition... and that applies to any sport. The difference between our team now having to go compete in a tournament with PC, uncg or whoever because we can take a bus and the hotel costs are cheaper etc. Vs going to a tournament in Dallas and playing against ucla, Texas, osu.
It's not ideal but it's one we have to make. Just hope everyone understands that.

Man, that terrible rust belt sure pays well. That’s where I wanted to go instead of cheater’s ville in the southeast, but geographically it made little sense and then USC and UCLA joined which made no sense at all.
Talks were underway years ago, but little brother Texas Tech wanted to tag along and the Big 10 didn’t want them for obvious academic reasons. See, the Big 10 actually cares about players actually having to go to class and actually having to open their books.
The SEC has always hated Georgia Tech for the same reasons. Tech left the cheater conference because none of the other schools cared about academics and that’s still true to this day.
The Big 10 wanted Texas and Oklahoma and not Texas Tech and Oklahoma Lite, those Cowboys of okie State.

Thanks for being brutally honest. In my opinion we are already seeing the money effect or lack there of. We must face the reality of the situation if we want to remain a contender.

I’d love to hear more about any predictions

Not just for Clemson, but other teams in the ACC if we were to break the GOR. Which teams go where and which teams are left behind? I get that no one knows, but the fun part of this is in the prediction.
Also, can you speak to the argument that Clemson would be “blocked” by South Carolina from the SEC or not qualify to join the BIG10? Would there even be a chance Clemson would join the BIG12?
In your opinion, which team(s) would you like to see land in the same conference with Clemson if we left the ACC?
In my opinion, Clemson leaves the ACC with the conference getting 8 teams to break the GOR or finding a loophole and making legal moves to leave. I *hope* we get an invite to the SEC but I predict we go to the BIG10 because our University will join the AAU and they have no footprint in the Southeast. I predict we go with FSU, Miami, UNC, and/or UVA.
