When the South Carolina participants in the annual Shrine Bowl were announced earlier in the year, Chester quarterback, Tony McNeal was not included on the coveted list. To some people that seemed like an oversight, considering McNeal threw for almost 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. For his career, McNeal had more than 7,000 yards passing and 70 touchdowns. Instead, McNeal was 1 of 45 chosen for the North roster in the North-South All-Star Game.
However, this week McNeal withdrew his name though from the North team roster because of his sore knee which was surgically repaired last year. McNeal will concentrate on getting ready to play at Clemson as he will be an early enrollee in January for the Tigers. Clemson has 3 other commitments on the North-South roster - Kevin Dodd, Robert Smith, and B.J Goodson. The North-South game will start at noon on Dec. 11th at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
