FSU quarterback James Blackman to start against Clemson |
Florida State head coach Willie Taggart told reporters Monday that quarterback James Blackman will get the start against No. 2 Clemson on Saturday.
Both Blackman and backup Alex Hornibrook are expected to play against the Tigers. "They both understand our offense, they both have done a great job of executing our offense," Taggart said. "And they've both done a good job of taking care of the football, which is always important. I like what they both have done for us." Blackman has been recovering from a knee injury and ready to roll against Clemson. He has completed 86-of-124 passes for 970 yards with 9 touchdowns and only two interceptions in four games. Taggart knows that his team needs to get the football to their skill players while also minimizing turnovers. "They've both been good at it, and you work them in however you see fit to help you win a ball game," he said. "They're both different, different mindsets. Alex, I think, is more business-like. James is, he's going to inspire you to do some things out there, his teammates. But they both execute our offense the way we need them to. No matter who's in there, we need to continue to distribute the ball to our play makers and more importantly, take care of the football." Clemson is currently a 26-point favorite against the Seminoles this weekend. In addition to naming QB James Blackman as the starter for this Saturday's game at Clemson, Willie Taggart also made it clear that Alex Hornibrook would also see action vs. the Tigers and talked about their differences...
