Former Tiger named NFC player of week

Former Clemson punter Bradley Pinion earned NFC player of the week honors after his performance in the 49ers' 34-3 win over Oakland.

Pinion averaged 54.7 yards, with a long of 64, on three attempts. He averaged 48 net yards per punt and landed one inside the 20.

The fourth-year pro ranks in the top-10 in opposing return yards average (9th; 9.2) and top-15 in punts inside the 20 (15th; 13).

The 6-foot-5 Concord, N.C. native averaged 42.6 yards per punt in his final season at Clemson. He had 28 punts inside the 20 to lead the ACC and break his own school record for a season in 2014.
