Tigers get big visit from 5-star recruit and his brother this weekend |
CLEMSON – The Clemson football coaching staff will be hosting another gaggle of recruits this weekend, but none may be bigger than two recent additions. The Tigers will be hosting 10 juniors and three seniors this weekend, but TigerNet has learned that one of the seniors is Alabama commitment Keenan Allen, the No. 5-rated prospect in the country [by Rivals] out of Greensboro, N.C. Also visiting along with Allen will be his brother, quarterback Zach Maynard, who played this past season at Buffalo University. Maynard announced on Thursday that he was leaving Buffalo to transfer to another school, and Clemson could be a good fit for the transfer. Maynard started all 12 games for the Bulls in 2009 and threw for 2,694 yards with 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his first year as starter. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. Allen is still firm with the Crimson Tide, but Clemson coaches would love to see Allen in Clemson orange next season. Allen is 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, and reminds many people of current Tiger DeAndre McDaniel. He is a 5-star prospect that has been recruited by Billy Napier. He committed to the Tide in November, and also plays wide receiver. Early reports state that he could start out as a wide receiver for Alabama, then switch back to defensive back if needed. Another interesting side to the story is that Allen and Maynard's cousin, Maurice Harris, is a junior wide receiver from the same high school who has drawn interest from many of the major schools, including Clemson. Both parents will be with the players on the visit this weekend. 2010 Football Commitments
