Just a Reminder... Rules for Standing

(By the way i've updated the links page at http://www.clemsonwallpapers.com and added some chat icons as well...)

From the 1977 Clemson Student Handbook...

I. RULES FOR STANDING:

A. Fans are to stand up when the band has taken the field before the game. Remain standing, unless feeling fatigued or woozy from partying the night before. Dispensation will also be made to the eldery, the pregnant and children.

B. Students may sit again upon returning to their dorm rooms. Others may sit upon returning to their cars, or tailgate locations.

C. Both students and other fans are instructed to remain in the stadium and standing until the alma mater is played after the conclusion of the game. Dispensation will be made only for the frail and elderly, and for expectant mothers who go into labor.

D. Rule C. does not preclude the leaving of the stadium for bathroom breaks, concessions or pass-outs. And if necessary, you may sit while conducting your business in the restroom. However, fans are to return to their appointed positions as soon as possible.

E. Clemson fans may sit:
1. During timeouts
2. During periods when Clemson is on offense, standing may be optional.
3. During brief periods of leg cramping or other personal discomfort, providing the fan then returns to standing as soon as possible.
3a. While in the restroom (See rule I)

II. RULES FOR NOISE

A. Clemson fans are instructed to remain respectfully silent during the invocation (both home and away) and during the playing of the opposition's alma mater. Clemson fans are instructed to sing in unison during the playing of the national anthem (home and way) and the Clemson alma mater.

B. Clemson fans are to limit the amount of noise made when the team is on offense.
1. This rule is to be ignored when the offense is successful.

C. Noise is expected of all Clemson fans when the team is on defense.
1. Noise is not to be contingent on the team's success on defense. It is to be provided without regard of the success of the defense.
2. An appeal by official sources for fans to limit their enthusiasm should be met with an increase in noise. Repeat until all such attempts are abandoned or voice fails.
3. An acceptible amount of crowd noise is allowed should the defense provide an opportunity for the offense to take over. This should last no more than a snap into the offense, however.

III. RULES FOR NON-STANDING OR NOISE

A. Those who are unable to stand due to factors cited in articles (IA and IE3...hopefully those mentioned in 1E3a will make as little noise as possible) may be excused from derision of those around them. They may not, however castigate fellow fans for continuing to stand. Clemson fans who do not fall under circumstances (IA and IE3) should be ashamed for their refusal to support Clemson and be treated with due derision.

B. The Clemson fan who complains about others blocking his or her view without appeal to (IA) or (IE3) shall be informed of their deviation from these rules and politely told to take a hike.
1. Opposing fans who are not accustomed to non-stop support of their teams will be treated with respect, but not to the point of violating article (IC).
2. Fans who persist in complaining that their money paid for seats to sit in shall be shown the proper times for sitting (Article IE 1-2) and if such instances are in effect at the time, the fan in front should sit.
3. Fans who continually complain should consider finding a new sport to watch.
