Former Clemson standout Kailen Sheridan to complete in 2023 World Cup

Clemson, S.C. – Former Clemson standout Kailen Sheridan has been named to the Canadian National Team’s roster prior to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand, it was announced earlier this summer. Sheridan and Team Canada begin play in the World Cup on Thursday evening, July 20.

A native of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, Sheridan won an Olympic Gold Medal with Team Canada in 2021, and this will be her second World Cup appearance. In her career with the Canadian National Team, Sheridan has made 35 appearances with 30 starts and 17 clean sheets. Sheridan currently plays professionally for the San Diego Wave FC.

In her career at Clemson, Sheridan was a two-time All-ACC selection who made 229 saves in 76 appearances with 28 shutouts. As a freshman, Sheridan was named to Soccer America’s All-Freshman Second Team, an All-ACC Third Team selection, a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team, and was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Freshmen’s Best XI First Team. Her sophomore year, she was named NSCAA All-Southeast Region First Team, First Team All-ACC (First Clemson player to be named First Team All-Conference since 2007) and was named to the College Sports Madness All-ACC Second Team. In her final season as a Tiger, she was named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team, and named First Team All-ACC.
