CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore Mia McGrath tallied 10 kills to lead the Tigers, but Clemson volleyball fell in three sets (20-25, 14-25, 16-25) to Florida State. The loss moves Clemson’s record to 12-8 (3-5 ACC), which marks the best start since 2014 (14-6) through the first 20 matches of a season.

McGrath’s 10 kills marked back-to-back matches in which the sophomore led the team in kills and points after she finished with 13 kills and 17 points on Friday night against Miami. She finished with a .304 hitting percentage and added one block assist to bring her point total to 10.5. Freshman Kate Simington added 7.5 points for the Tigers contributing both offensively and defensively at the net. She went 5-for-10 with a team-high .400 hitting percentage and clocked four blocks (one solo, three assisted) to lead Clemson.

Graduate Adria Powell continued to set the tone at the net defensively for the Tigers. Ranking in the top 15 in the country for blocks, Powell added another three to her season total (98) by contributing two solo and one assisted on the day. She finished with 9.5 points by contributing seven kills, the second highest on the team trailing only McGrath.

Graduate Mckenna Slavik finished with a team-high 25 assists and was second on the team with six digs. Junior libero Devan Taylor continued to power the back row with eight digs, while McGrath notched five of her own. Freshman Kennedy Wagner and McKenna Gildon rounded things out with two and one ace, respectively. Wagner currently leads the team with 29 on the season.

Up Next
The Tigers continue their home stand next weekend by welcoming North Carolina (Oct. 20) and Duke (Oct. 22) to Jervey Gym. Weekend action will begin with North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
