This is the first big get for new coach Brandon Wagner. Has a pro ranking inside the top 1000 in the world. Abderrahman's UTR (a universal rating system to compare players worldwide) of 12.94 would be third best on the team already, not far behind Azuma and Vukadin.
He will join the team in January so we will be ready for the spring dual season. Could play #3-4 on the team immediately.

that this is a new pipeline for Clemson. We haven't had a player from North Africa before. It has been a Wake Forest pipeline in recent years, with one of Tunisia's best recent players leading the Deacs to the national title a few years ago.

A different perspective

TIP. I appreciate your support of Tiger tennis. I am a former collegiate tennis player so enjoy your post.
However, I am not a fan of giving out spots and-or scholarships to foreign players. Tennis is a non-revenue sport and all we are doing is taking a chance for an American, a South Carolinian perhaps, to pay college sports. These are the folks whose parents and grandparents have supported public schools, who raise families in the US, who are committed to this country and I’m not a fan of going after players who are only using schools like Clemson to get into the US and take advantage of what US citizens have created.
At most, schools should be limited to a number of foreign players, say 10-15% max.
I’ll Lacy’s support Clemson athletics but do not want us to chase non-Americans regardless of how good they are, as it dilutes our countrymen and women and frankly drives athletes away from tennis in the long run.

Max Damm from Florida, Maxwell Smith from Daniel Island, Spencer Whitaker from Richmond, Trey Stinchcomb from Maryland, Matt Pitts from Greer and Freshman Marko Mesarovic from Austin.
So adding in Wissam we have 10 players, 6 Americans, 1 Canadian, 1 Croatian, 1 Japanese and 1 Tunisian.
That's definitely more Americans than many programs. Some such as NC State, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Kentucky and more recruit almost exclusively international.
The issue is for most programs is that the very best American players either go pro or choose the top programs and theres usually a big gap to the "second-tier" Americans. So many choose to go for international players to try and compete.
And we can agree to disagree overall, because personally I do not have an issue with international student athletes. They usually come to the US with good attitudes and learn to love the American college lifestyle and leave the US with positive experiences from America and in some cases even choose to stay here.

I agree with a lot of what you stated and it is not that I don’t want to be great at every sport. I just know how impactful playing at the college level for me was and I was in that second tier you mentioned. I was never good enough to play at Clemson but it would be good in my view to give the kids and families who support this university with their treasure to provide more opportunities for them.
Plus, not being socialist oriented, I’m not the biggest fan of the players from socialist countries using our system to better themselves, stay and yet remain unchanged in how they think.

I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you on this as well. Look how many foreign players are on soccer teams through the years. But, I'll say this as an example. Alice Hewson, former women's golf. She's becoming more successful each year. I know for a fact she and her family have
given back to Clemson probably more than 98% of our South Carolina brethren. She attends almost every home game, has and promotes Clemson with her tools (bags, clubs etc) .
Understanding that's just one example. However, first and foremost it's made us competitive in non revenue sports especially. The more revenue they can generate, the less fb has to cover. So, I would speculate that having the foreign players have benefited Clemson more than had we not gone that route.
