As an OG Falcons fan I love the first round pick.

No one should have bought the Michael Penix hate the talking heads were spewing. This kid is different. He made Indiana a tough out against anyone. What better situation than to have Kirk Cousins teach him the ropes for a couple years?! Exciting times for a Falcon fan! Thanks to Brady and Bill were still hunting that first Lombardi. Maybe this reopened the door.
I was born a Clemson fanatic, Falcons, Lakers, and Braves fan. I won’t waiver despite LeBron James and all the suffering I’ve done (at times) because of those teams. I wasn’t tempted by the shiny new Panthers franchise when I was in high school. No other teams will do until the day I die! Bandwagon fans are the worst!

If they give Penix time to develop he could be great. He wasn't great when he started in college gave him time was great this past season. The Falcons just need to let him develop.

Penix doesn't have the wheels that Vick had, but is arm is better.

Vick had an absolute cannon, but he couldn't control it. You don't need to throw 100 mph fastballs to your RB out of the backfield.

I don’t really see him that way. He started that way and tore two ACL’s. I think he’s going to make a great pocket passer who can extend plays well.

Besides being black & a qb for ATL - what about him makes you think he is going to follow in Vicks footsteps?
Have you seen the kid play?
Far more likely to follow in the steps of Matt Ryan...

It’s the $180M that they just committed to pay Kirk Cousins. When you’re already paying a guy $45M/year you probably don’t have the salary cap space to pay another guy huge money at the same position and still be able to get other top flight players.

There are many novel and creative ways to skirt salary cap dollars while getting players paid. The falcons are pretty good on defense. We need a legit edge rusher to cement things. There are always aging veterans who can be signed for Pennie’s on the dollar. This is more about building future success and longevity than winning today. $180 mil over four years is the norm for a Qb these days. Let’s face it, the falcons haven’t had one since Ryan left/aged out.
