Anyone else lost smell and taste before?

I knew it was a possibility, but it never happened before with covid for me. This time the lost smell/taste was total and complete, for about 5-6 days. But today the taste part and a little smell has returned. But it's only to certain things. Worst part, those certain things are normally VERY good smells or tastes, and now they're horrible. I can smell bacon, and it smells like burnt tires. It tastes like a tire too. Peppermint, popped a few altoids today. BIG mistake. They taste like open ###. Toothpaste tastes much the same. BAD.

I'd just assume go back to no smell or taste versus screwed up taste and smell.

Yep. I lost smell with the rona, but not taste. Never had

First Covid got the no smell/taste thing. Absolutely

couldn’t taste nothing for 3 months. Then it started to come back slowly. Strong tasting stuff often tasted bitter or dirty at first…sucked ###. Neurologist neighbor said it takes a while for the brain to relearn what taste buds and olfactory sense is telling it. Resolved about 5 months post ‘vid.

I had Covid 26 months ago. Can’t smell a thing to this day. Taste is perfectly fine except for one thing. I can’t taste hot spices. Before Covid I was a wimp with hot spices. A few days ago I was in a Mexican restaurant and told them to give me the hottest sauce they have. Nothing!!! Really strange.

Get some industrial strength mouthwash, like listerine.

Took me about 6 months to get taste straightened out.

I didn't lose either - though Paxlovid made it taste like I had steel wool in my mouth 24/7 until I finished taking it.
