Today, 50 years ago, 12-10-1972, I rode my bicycle about two miles to another neighborhood hoping that they were playing baseball over there. As I rode into the neighborhood, I noticed a beautiful girl on a ladder, trying to put the top decorations on a Christmas tree in her yard. I stopped to help her. I stood on the ground and reached the top of the tree to finish out the decorations (she now says when I stood there flat footed and reached what she needed a ladder to reach, she fell in love!). As we worked, we talked. As we finished, we decided she would get her bike and we would go riding together. I fell in love that day! We have been together ever since! We now know that it was all God’s plan!
It has not always been perfect…for a long time, she was Carolina, I am Clemson! But she eventually changed to Clemson (Spurrier had a lot to do with that). That has at least made that point no longer a divide between us!
I told my brother 50 years ago today that I had met the woman I would marry. We waited until our last year in college to get married, so on January 8, 2023, we will be celebrating our 45th year of marriage. We recently bought our first motorized boat, a pontoon, and we have been going camping/fishing a lot since then (mostly to Lake Greenwood)…We have been having a ball! We never thought we could have so much fun! We never knew how much fun a boat could be…
Once we put God first, our lives became much happier. We were great at the beginning but putting the correct focus on our spiritual life really opened the emotional life for us. We are truly blessed! She is the light of my earthly life! We truly understand what it means to be blessed! The story continues….
