DJU Opinions

I admit, I have not read whatever DJU said about his time at Clemson but the fact that he was probably the most hated Clemson athlete in my 70 years influences what people think. What he says or does not say should in no way bother any fan because he has moved on and after the way he was continually trashed, why is it surprising that he has opinions, wouldn't you? Let's focus on our team and not worry about anyone who is not a part of it.

is true.
Trevor Lawrence carried the Clemson offensive coaching staff. After coach Scott left.
Jeff Scott was a legit D1 Offensive Coordinator. We never backfilled accordingly. And this is the result of mismanagement.
Tony Elliott . LSU shut him down. Ohio State shut him down. Georgia shut him down. Brandon Streeter. Notre Dame shut him down. Tennessee shut him down. DJU is just speaking the truth.

DJ himself said the offense was very basic......and yet he couldnt master it. So whose fault is that? Youre a major D1 QB, an alleged 5* and you cant master the basics?

it's DJ's & QB Coach's fault.....

so many are quick to blame ONLY DJ, but forget that Dabo..........who's as loyal as they come........FIRED Streeter for a reason too.
NEITHER DJ nor Streeter were capable in their respective roles at Clemson.

as a WR when you know the QB isnt going to look your way and even if he does the pass is likely going in the dirt or over your head. Be very interesting to see how the WR's look this season.

But DJ still sucks and came in with a big mouth and a big ego and brought most of the problems on himself. No amount of coaching is going to solve his problems. The kid is not a big-time D1 quarterback.

How many game plans has Jeff Scott put together and how many games has he called…0. He’s a great coach…but know the facts before you start your bashing.

Garret Riley is the offensive version of Brent Venables.
I'm sorry that DJU had to experience the Clemson he did.

Yeah I'm sorry his vision wouldn't let him see open receivers. I'm sorry he processed simple screen plays and RPO's like dial up internet. I'm sorry his accuracy wouldn't let him hit receivers when he actually saw them. I'm sorry his coaches had his back even if it meant them taking the heat.

The coaches where loyal to DJ like no player before. They wanted him to put it together and succeed.
I feel sorry for him, it’s rare to have his athleticism but the head games completely shut him down.

We would’ve been in the playoffs the past two seasons with KB at QB.
Actually, we would’ve been in the playoffs this year had we simply told DJ to hand the ball to our running backs. Because if we simply keep the ball on the ground we beat South Carolina easily

“I’ll take my ball and Go Home!” Real Clemson men don’t think like that. DJ was never “all in” after the Notre Dame loss. He was great that game because no one knew how to defend him. The only other game he played during his stay was the WF overtime win. In the rest he was average at best!

He is the literal FACE of the downward trend of the football program. He is the most polarizing player I can ever remember I’m my life. He’s also the worst QB I’ve ever seen as the full time starter at Clemson.

The biggest issue I had with his comments was him accusing Dabo of not believing in him and basically accusing him of giving up on him. That was the single dumbest comment in the interview.

Let's not forget that DJU was one of the most INACCURATE passers we have seen at Clemson in a long time. He can blame the system all he wants, but when he continually throws the ball into the ground or sails it 10 feet over a wide open receiver, then it's his fault. Oregon State may play a system more suitable for him, but they still can't teach him how to throw an accurate pass.

… hit open receivers no matter what offensive system he’s in.
I’m going to wait until the season starts to see if DJU has become any more accurate at Oregon State.

most ridiculous thing I have seen in print lately. I doubt siriusly if there is another coach in the whole country that would have stuck with him as long as Dabo did, while he was chunking the ball everywhere except at his own receivers. His comments fall under the category of trying to write some sirius revisionist history. FALSE revisionist history. Period.
That is all.

You’re ignoring a simple fact.

First, no one hates the kid. You people need to stop with that BS. Just like no one hates Dabo, but the man does deserve some criticism.
Second, any shade being thrown at DJ is deserved, and the truth is, he brought it on himself! And he’s doing more damage running his mouth.
The kid was in over his head because he was not as expected. He was overhyped, and now he’s trying to deflect his own shortcomings by blaming the coaching staff.
That being said, I have been roundly criticized and attacked for daring to criticize the coaching staff over the past two seasons, because that has been our biggest problem.
That doesn’t take away from the fact that DJ came in with a big head and a big mouth, overweight, but also not as athletic as thought, a fragile ego, slow at processing the defense, terrible at handing off and pitching the football, not very accurate and basically completely overwhelmed at this level. Coaching can’t fix most of that if any.
