Yesterday's game and the future of Clemson football . . .

First, what a great win yesterday. I know UVA is a pretty crappy team, but instead of playing flat and giving poor effort, we did exactly what we should have done; we played with good intensity and put a severe beatdown on our opponent. Nice job.
Looking forward, we will miss Tajh Boyd next year. You don't lose a player of his caliber without feeling it. However, I feel really good about our QB situation going forward. I think with 3 full years in the system, Stoudt will be ready to go as our starter come next fall. All the PT he has gotten should give him plenty of confidence. Seeing him play again yesterday only reinforced that. Chad Kelly will give him a fight, and he looks better every time he plays. He sure looked good in mop-up duty yesterday. I don't know if it will be a full-fledged 2 QB system, but I can envision both of them getting plenty of PT next season. I'm sure the plan will be to redshirt Deshaun Watson, but I could easily see him playing next year if needed due to injury to one of the others - he looks like he is going to be a good one. QB is in good shape going forward.
Just as we will miss Tajh, we will miss Sammy Watkins as well. I don't see any one guy that can replace him, but we do have a lot of talent there coming back, and some pretty highly regarded guys coming in. Bryant made some nice catches yesterday, as did Williams and Hopper. With them and Peake and Humphries coming back, along with the freshmen, we should be in very good shape there as well.
Jordan Leggett looks like a giant WR; his talent is obvious. If he gets it all together, he will be another stud in a long line of studs at TE for Clemson. He had some nice catches yesterday as well.
On defense, Jayron Kearse is a player and contiues to impress. He has good instincts and his physical qualities are freakish. He looked like a veteran again yesterday. Wiggins has a nose for the ball as well, and has really surprised me with his play. Very aggressive, and also doesn't look like a freshman. We still need a few more quality DBs; can't wait to see Alexander back there next year.
I sure there are other young'uns that played well yesterday that I am overlooking, but those stood out to me. Sure, somebody will have to emerge at RB next year, the O-line needs to keep improving, and there will be a few holes on defense, but the point is, I saw a lot yesterday to keep me fired up about the future of Clemson football. Now let's win out this year, beat the coots and win a BCS Bowl!

IMO, it will be Kelly as starter

in first game next year. Why? Because he fits the Chad's system much better than Stoudt. Your are right, it will be an interesting battle in Spring practice with Watson there as well!

is Watson. If he comes in Jan it gives him the max opportunity to learn the O and not redshirt. this is not to say he willstart as I think Stoudt will be starting initially but for a young qb it gives them the max chance to develop the first year.

times, and that would solidify his position in my mine. Of course Dabo and Chad won't be calling for my opinion LOL.

I've said it once, I'll say it again, Kelly will never see the field as a starter unless Stoudt of Watson gets hurt.
I think Stoudt will end up starting next and I'll go out on a limb and make a few predictions. He'll be a candidate for Heisman at some point in the season and he'll go in the first two rounds of the draft.
Stoudt is really a diamond in the rough. He's a really smart kid, makes good decisions, has good accuracy and the ball really flies off his arm. Not to mention that he has the type of size that the NFL loves and he's a lot faster than people give him credit for. I highly doubt we see any dip in production from the QB position next year if Stoudt is the starter.

is elusive enough, quick enough and generally a good enough runner to maximize the potential of this offense, IMHO. I see Watson as the perfect QB for our system. Now whether or not he can beat out the other two his freshman year remains to be seen. But he is our future.

Smiling Tiger,I could really get behind a 2QB system. Our opponent's DC would have to prepare for 2 different QBs. Throw in some Wildcat with T. Dye and W.Gallman plus the limited amount of practice time per week could only help us.I hope that M.Bryant and V.Bleasley will come back next year.

Speaking of Beasley...

..one of the announcers yesterday (Cunningham, I think) commented that Beasley would improve his NFL stock considerably if he does come back. Hope Vic listens to him.

Stoudt's wheels are pretty good, but i saw again yesterday

the one thing that has always worried me about Stoudt and that's his arm strength. He has an odd release and doesn't get a lot of zip on the ball. His throws float a bit out of his hand, and on throws 20+ yards down the field the trajectory and the lack of velocity are very noticeable.
He's more accurate than Tajh, i think he's very good mentally, and he runs surprisingly well, but he can't make all of the throws and that's a pretty big negative.
