Tajh were to have an injury and a backup has to play in multiple games, we are going to have problems anyway. I think redshirting Kelly makes perfect sense given the fact that we are going to have a hard time hanging on to Watson in the future. He'll end up at Ohio State or Oregon in my opinion.

out there and take a knee.
he doesn't look like a freshman; it'll be interesting if he can win the 2 spot.

plus, you do not have to assign redshirts until after the season. so if boyd stays healthy you just dont put chad in and then redshirt him at end of year. no decision to be made until you need someone to go in.

Why should we?

Boyd's gone in two years tops, possibly this year if he puts up similar numbers without a late season meltdown. If Kelly's got the goods, having him as both a backup and a change of pace option can only be to our benefit. If he needs a year for conditioning and adjustment to college so be it. If he doesn't, let the seasoning begin.

He better play now while he can. DeShaun Watson is on the way.

because he might push tb. morris harped on it last year

boyd had so distanced himself that stoudt couldn't push him. he said there was a clear battle at number 2, but they needed someone to close the gap with tb.
if kelly is that guy that keeps boyd from eating that extra piece of pizza, bless him.

Recruiting at the level we are,a lot of these guys are potentially 3 year guys. If you redshirt, you only get 2 out of them.

The most intriguing part is him as a change of pace running threat, that can add another component of Morris' offense.

Kelly has been through a spring practice and he probably won't be here but 3 years no matter what and if Tajh goes pro next year we will be in a fix if K elly has no experience.

Two things:
Aug 5, 2012, 12:37 AM
|
|
1. In a perfect world, we would redshirt every single freshman.
2. The player who gives us the best chance of winning will always play.
What this means is, if a true freshman plays, it means one thing and one thing only; the coaches feel he is the best man for the job.
I'm sure the coaches would like to redshirt Kelly. If they don't, then you know the coaches feel he is more ready than the next guy.
