Why do coaches always say the players "had a good summer"?

Everyone gets a trophy these days. I need my coach to say... right now, we've got a soft team. They don't know what hard work is. They think they've worked hard this summer, but it's just not good enough.

We need some more negativity and public shaming to really motivate these guys imo.

Jawja where the players are getting paroled for football season.
That is the message here - everything is about recruiting and this is for the parents to consider.

Players show up for Fall Camp......

Coach to player: "How was your summer?"

Player to coach: "It was great - really enjoyed it!"

Coach to press: "Players had a great summer!"

Coaches, teachers, managers and business owners scream and yell in private and pump up in public but have you considered that we have had a great summer?

When I coached I told the truth. 'We got plenty to do between now and our next game but the kids are working hard, developing skills and learning well.'

You can do both if you're honest.

Loose Bolts said it best after a 21 game losing streak as USCe. "I didn't let them carry me off the field because they are so weak I was afraid they'd drop me."

I don't think this team deserves that disrespect.
