making sure ghey marriage never happens?
I would hope the same kind of multitudinous patriotic fervor would exist for a campaign to get government out of the marriage and lifestyle business altogether, where it doesn't and has never belonged. I somehow kinda doubt that's going to happen.
Don't get me wrong - I loves me a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and was jonesin for one Monday after all the Sunday talk, but this thing today is ridiculous. Our priorities as citizens are incredibly out of whack.

issue. If an opposing view can speak their convictions, so can a business man who is a Christian.
The hypocrisy of those crying, "FOUL! You can't say that!" is really quite humorous ... and ignorant.

groups started saying they can't say that and mayors from some cities wanted to ban them for saying they are for gay marriage you would've come out today and support them still? Just clarifying it's being done for free speech and the first amendment.

what's the point of this hypothetical?

the opposite is really happening, and it matters to us. if a business can be banned because a ceo feels a certain way about marriage, it's only a matter of time before a house of worship is punished for it.
this hoopla shows what a bunch of hokum those bumper stickers that said "how does my gay marriage harm yours?" this is your answer -- because proponents of gay marriage have little more than a phony pretense of tolerance.
chickfila complies with all non-discrimination laws, and yet they're being banned. and you come up with this stupid hypothetical. c'mon man.

I proudly support anyone's right to believe what they believe in.
I don't like people that are hypocritical and don't have guts to actually stand up for what they believe in.
I'm fine with what you wrote. If that's how you feel then I can certainly go along with it. I don't like people who feel the same way you do, but instead of standing up like you say things like "i'm doing it for free speech." That's just some bs in my book.

Fully support his right to say what he wants so long as it

isn't libelous or slanderous, and have no problem at all with his words and where he puts his money as a free American. That he can fund and influence elections with that money is a big problem for all of us. It's too easy to sell out minority rights and dissenting opinions in the face of financial force and safety of popular numbers.

It goes both ways...Since we've heard how hate spewing, the ChicAflick CEO is...Here's the other side of the coin. copied from Snopes, regarding a contrasting CEO. The writer flavors the article, but that's no different than the media does everyday. ---------- What you might not know is that the chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the largest funders of the left in America . He's your typical rich spoiled kid who took over the company from his father and apparently feels "guilty" for his success and now dedicates himself to making it impossible for anyone else to become wealthy.
Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what's left of America's Judeo-Christian heritage. Indeed, Lewis is himself an ACLU member. One of the ACLU projects he earmarked his funds for was an effort to sue school districts who have drug testing policies. In other words, this idiot wants teachers to be able to use drugs without fear of exposure. I wonder what he would think if all his own employees came to work drugged out every day.
Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org and American Coming Together, two key components of the socialist left. The former group is perhaps the main group used by the Obama forces to organize their activists; the latter group is a 527 political action group that essentially served as a front for the SEIU union thugs who ran ACORN. His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the international socialist who finances much of the Obama political network.
It's disturbing that Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the free enterprise system. He reminds me somewhat of Armand Hammer, the former head of Occidental Petroleum who did business with Joseph Stalin and became his good friend, around the same time Stalin was executing businessmen all over the USSR .
What angers me further is the way this company is targeting television shows watched by conservatives such as Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans so that he can destroy our country. He's banking on no one finding out who he is. I think it's time we expose this clown.
Origins: In 2009, Forbes magazine ranked Peter Lewis at #366 on its list of the richest Americans, pegging his net worth at just over $1 billion. Lewis acquired his wealth primarily through his stewardship of Cleveland-based Progressive Insurance, a company co-founded by his father in 1937. When he assumed the position of CEO of Progressive in 1965, Lewis took over a business with about 100 employees and $6 million in yearly revenue; forty years later, Progressive had become the third largest auto insurer in the United States, employing over 27,000 people with yearly revenues topping $13 billion. (Lewis stepped down from his role as Progressive Insurance's CEO in 2000, so he now is neither an executive of that company nor involved in its day-to-day management. He continues to hold the position of chairman of the board of the Progressive Corporation and is that entity's single largest individual shareholder.) There's two or more sides to everything...Who's ox is getting...well you know. That was a word from Page 2, as Paul Harvey used to say. LOL Everyone has fingerprints and an opinion. The world would be pretty boring if it didn't.

and that CEO isn't saying or doing anything controversial. That's just some article written by a person with an axe to grind, because a CEO who has done well for himself is a liberal and not some far right winger. Far right wingers get very upset if a rich person is a liberal. However, if a rich person is a far right winger, far right wingers think they can do no wrong.

It's very unwise of any businessman or woman of any religion to come out say something that can be perceived as controversial. Controversy can have negative effects on a business. Which does Mr Cathy want to be a preacher or a businessman?

the Rahm Emanuel's of the world are trying to keep them out of cities because CFA's owner stood up for his traditional values.
I don't care if the owner professed his support for or against same sex marriages, it's his right to do that, just as it's my right to decide where I want to eat. But the government cannot pick and choose which businesses they will allow based on the views of their owners. Content-based regulation is unconstitutional.

Chick-fil-a has endeared itself to conservative Christians for many years by closing on Sundays. Most of us find it difficult to follow their example, which all the more elevates their status in our eyes. So when they come under attack, we take it personally. Yes, it's a fee speech issue. Yes, most of us do oppose gay marriage. But, the reason for the turn-out is that one of our own is under attack, and we're pushing back.

The guy was asked some questions and he answered honestly. We should not be surprised that he did. After all, if he is willing to loose the revenue to follow his convictions about Sundays, then he's obviously willing to risk negative blowback to answer honestly about his opinions on marriage.
For answering honestly, and because some disagree with his opinions, elected officials of some of the largest cities in America have suggested they will use the influence and power of their office to negatively impact Chic-fil-a's business. And, various groups that disagree with his opinions are organizing protests and boycotts of Chic-fil-a. You may consider these actions justifiable, but I hardly see how these actions would not be considered attacks. It is perhaps the blowback that was to be expected, but unfortunately for the small minority who are offended by his comments, their overreaching response has stirred the vast majority to action.
