We could have been FSU

Every Clemson fan should be outraged that FSU didn't make the playoffs. They beat every team on their schedule, which included a demolition of LSU back when LSU was ranked #5 in the nation. If Clemson went undefeated with our schedule, we would've been left out too.
If, at the beginning of the season, you were told that even if you win all of your games, the Committee would select a 1 loss SEC team over you, would you even bother playing the games? The system is rigged. FSU has revealed the man behind the curtain. It's E$PN and they have bought and paid for the CFP Committee.
The ACC, and certainly FSU, should bring an army of lawyers with instructions to investigate every member of that Committee and every communication they had over the past 2 months. Expose the corruption and hang the guilty.

Clemson fans seem to think we are immune to such things and we were in the exact same shoes we would be put in the playoff over Bama ....they are severely misinformed

That's always the way... watch "it" happen to "them" while ignoring the possibility that "we" could be next.

It's a efffffing team sport last I checked. So now we have a CFP natty based on a single player's contribution to the team?

That's not my point. The OP is arguing Florida St was left out because of disrespect because of the ACC. That's not the reason.

It may not be the OP reason, but it was the CFP reason. So a team's efforts don't matter. It is a single player's effort that matters.

If they went out and scored 40+ points in both games, they probably still gotten in.

NO, they wouldn't have. This a travesty for the sport. I'm more livid about CFB as a whole RIGHT now than I ever was during the BCS era. They just said that the ACC isn't a power 5 conference and that the games don't matter. Why even play the games? Why not just let Vegas decide the playoff teams?
If you think this doesn't affect recruiting as well, you are up outside of your mind.
I hope Michigan BLOWS THE DOORS off of Alabama...something to the tune of 44-16 sounds right.
Absolute garbage.

That should not matter because they still went undefeated. Which IMO shows they are a winner even during adversity.
Bama had to beat an Auburn team with several loses on a miracle play that should have been reviewed a lot closer to see if receiver had ball control.

FSU won despite an injury to one of their players. They are undefeated. In my mind, they have a legitimate claim to a National Championship if they finish the season undefeated (either by winning their bowl game, or ending their season in protest today).
A "playoff" is supposed to settle disputes over who is #1 when you have more than 2 undefeated teams. It was rare that you had 3 worthy teams at the end of the regular season, but it has happened, like with the 2010 13-0 TCU team. Going to a 4 team playoff would ensure that would never happen.
The top tier, guaranteed-a-spot rule should always be "Undefeated Power 5 Conference Champion." This year, that's Washington, Michigan and FSU. That's objective and clear cut. Then go to your 1 loss teams and make your case. This year it would've been "Well, Texas beat Alabama..."
Debating how much better or worse a team MAY be a month from now given an injury to X player is totally subjective and SHOULD NOT MATTER. Other things that shouldn't matter... Bama squeaking by 6-6 Auburn with a miracle as time expired... an Auburn team that got absolutely SMOKED by New Mexico State.

I would rather have the best teams in the playoffs.

You know how many people said that crap the years Clemson made the playoff and one it all? “They lost to Pitt at home!! They struggled against xyz!!” And Clemson won it all.
Clemson could’ve went undefeated this year and been left out for the same reason. “They looked like they’re struggling at QB, don’t pass the eye test” 🙄 what a garbage argument by the committee

a 3rd string QB who will be the backup QB in the bowl game. Not sure an eye test really tells you much.
Somehow FSU's D crushing the eventual Heisman winner at LSU doesnt show that defense can win you games even if the offense struggles.

The problem is there are 5 Power 5 conference champions and only 4 playoff slots. If the committee felt the ACC was the lowest rated of the 5 conferences, then them taking the conference champions from the other 4 meets their standard of trying to get the 4 best teams in the playoffs. We know based on the past that they do value conference champions.
I really think this is the rationale they used and are hanging their hats on.
