Of the CBB era. There's been time and there's been talent. I was hoping for success but it hasn't panned out. It's a business and the company isn't performing, a change is needed.

New Arena=New Coach. BB. Has had more time than most coaches to prove he deserves to keep his job. Administration needs to look for someone who not only coach, but more importantly recruit

You can't build a program with "project" players all the time. BB recruits like he did when he did in his previous stint. You can't get to the top if you don't at least try to get or at least offer the best. You may not get them, but we're never in their conversation. Yes he has some players that have exceeded their clippings, but not enough. You can look at the other schools who offer the players he has gone after since he's been here...the Radfords, Elons, Georgia Southerns and the Tenn Techs of the College basketball world. Being in the ACC should carry a bit of weight when he goes to a player's home. I'm not knocking those school or the players we have, but BB has had his opportunities and it's just not working. I realize he's a "defense first" coach, but he needs players who also have more offense (and can make foul shots). Just a odd note: Rutgers beat us this year and they fire their coach after three years...BB lost to Rutgers and after six years he gets to keep his job...go figure.

An absolutely deplorable performance. How you give up an 18 point lead like that is beyond me. This team is lacking a winners mentality, as soon as things got tough they folded. On a positive note, I was pretty impressed with Sidy tonight and have been all season (had some boneheaded fouls, but he will get better... Hopefully). Holmes was playing well before the collapse. Congrats to Roper and Nnoko on solid Clemson careers.

SICKENING!

BB had six years! 2 NCAA appearances on OPP's players. His recruits have went to the NIT at best, but mostly sat at home in the post season. We need the next Shaka Smart. I like you, Brad. But, it's time to go! Someone please come coach here and breath some life into this program!

Don't worry guys, D Rad feels that the program is in good hands, they have the tools coming to improve our BB at Clemson according to D Rad.
Thank you Henry for the note and support of our program. Last nights loss was very tough to take for the players and coaches and our fans. Competitive sports is a fickle mistress at times. Know that we all desire better in our basketball program and I believe that supporting Brad and the players and staff he has assembled is the correct thing to do. New tools are on the way to help bring more quality basketball student athletes to Clemson.
Thank you again for the great support you have given our program.

If you look back on the previous coaches records all the way back to Bobby Roberts, BB's record is about the same as theirs. .600 is about norm for the program. My big thing for BB is that I have never heard him express his vision for the program, quite the opposite for Dabo. In football our goal is to consistently compete for conference championships, go to a bowl game every year, and be in the mix for national championships. However, in basketball it seems our vision is to win most of our preseason games, win most of our conference games at home, go to the ACC tournament, and then wait and see if the NIT wants us. I would like to see something like, finish in the top third of the conference in the regular season, compete for the conference tournament championship, and consistently go to the NCAA tournament. Should not be so difficult considering the resources available.

I agree with all of that, but I'd add that we NEED a win in chapel hill even more. As embarrassing as the loss was last night, it's nothing compared to the futility we have displayed up there.

I have always liked Brownell, but have finally had enough. Like me, I am sure that many of you knew this game was going to be lost about the seven minute mark. And when Tech started the inbounds press, there was no longer doubt!

That was just pitiful. How do you blow an 18-point lead in the second half? Also, as a side note, it drives me crazy to see college basketball players miss free throws (which I definitely saw tonight).

We blew this game to a BAD BB team.

That needs to be the point of emphasis. We can start a new era in a refurbished arena next year, but I believe the new era needs to start fresh with a new Coach. I have previously wanted Brownell to have a year in the new digs, but this embarrassing collapse against a VERY BAD BB team has made me lose any hope that the man can win here. Time for a change.

Blaming it in refs and begging for an nit bid, not bad for $2 million a year. As for the refs, GT got screwed on some unreal calls in the first half. That was just a big Brown L. Shyatt happens. Now who locked him in with such a sweetheart deal? That's who needs to be relieved of his duties.

If you never watch Clemson basketball then why are you complaining?

I'm not a huge basketball fan so you won't catch me complaining because it seems like an annoying coot like thing to do. Neither of us really are in a position to whine. You're nowhere near as bad as some of he people on here. That won't watch the games for ##### but you can rest assured they'll be showing up whenever there's a loss so they can b!tch endlessly about firing someone.

This is the worst choke job I have ever seen up double digits and suddenly we can't defend without fouling every possession? Unacceptable, Blossomgame might as well leave as we have nothing to offer. I have to join the haters and say it is time to go get a big name coach. Maybe Patino is available next week? Just lock up your booze and women...

I feel like the fact we had some great wins in January shows we won purely off talent, energy and adrenaline. We beat some darn good teams. Playing down the stretch reflects how we adjust, stay motivated, scout opponents, etc. How you finish down the stretch (barring injury) separates good coaching from average. Second meltdown in 3 years.. With a featured player (KJ two years ago). We also weren't consistent on the road. We obviously need a change.. But probably won't happen unless we blow it next year. If JB stays.. I would think even mediocre coaching would keep us in ACC champ contention. We've got some talent

Fire Brownell!
Mar 10, 2016, 8:13 AM
|
|
He has had long enough to change the program. After a loss like that...that is totally on the coach. If you have an 18 point lead, you should be able to win that 100% of the time. That's just poor coaching! We have no good recruiting, no in game adjustments, and poor leadership. I like Brownell as a person, but Clemson needs a quality coach that can recruit and get us to the next level.

It is NOT Brownell!! So tired of people who do not know squat about basketball calling for his firing. The players have to know the situation. You do not foul to send Tech to the line without the clock moving. These recruits we get from Senegal and Cameroon do not possess the basketball mentality to play defense without fouling. Brownell was screaming at these guys to stop fouling and he might as well been speaking Latin. We were picked to finish last this year and we by far overachieved.

If a team, any team, is consistently inconsistent it's a coaching problem. Last night at 7:32 with a 16 point lead Brownell decides to change stategy and go into 'protect the lead' mode. Get the ball, hold it until the clock winds down then try to force it in. Trying to run out the clock at 7 minutes is like punting on 2nd down.
This team has a lot of talent, they beat top 10 teams this year. Only a coach can motivate and KEEP his team motivated. Brownell just doesn't have that skill. You can't blame the car for running into a ditch...it's the driver.

So every time we finish higher than what we are picked to finish in the league (usually 9th - 14th) and we finish (8th -13th) we have a "successful" season??? Can't seen to understand that. By that logic, BB must be hoping we get picked last every year!!
