Clemson - built like an SEC team

David Greene said Clemson was the top non SEC school in the nation. We are loaded and have the right mindset, they know we are ready. This has to be our year.

clemson is built like Alabama with Oregon's offense if the defense plays like they did in that bowl game
Aug 16, 2013, 1:31 AM

and that is not built like most of the SEC to be honest the SEC outside Alabama Florida LSU Texas A&M Georgia and to my regrets defensively like South Carolina past couple of years (Idk about this year) has pretty much been it. no team in the SEC have you been then close to as the deadly as Clemson will be this season. The only question in my mind is can the defense play like they did in the bowl game on a consistent basis and even better. I mean I went back to watch the Wake Forest game and it was a lot of games last year who is Clemson still look flat and played terrible and still won by 40 points. I just wish they would walk in the season and crush everyone and take pride in just the demoralizing other teams. because let's be honest Clemson will not be respected until they give Bobby Bowden treatment to teams for couple years. and that means obviously blowing them out of the water. but to make my point clear there is no team in the SEC besides maybe Georgia and Texas A&M that can't even lay claim to be in the same build as clemson offensively and that is a real hard stretch

the defense made improvements toward the end of the year........however a BIG reason we looked "LOCK DOWN" vs LSU was b/c LSU wasn't very good on offense.
kinda like 2 years ago when our defense seemed to "show up" when we played VT...........that's b/c VT was inept on offense.
again don't get me wrong we improved on defense........and i think we'll be better defensively this year, but don't expect the defense like we saw vs LSU or VT every week.

uh - you lost some credibility with 'Bama ain't all that' - because they ARE.
Anyway - I agree with Pheebo - Let's wait until our D stops a team that actually has a potent offense, then we can say our D is better. right now - the verdict is still out on our D. Let's hope BV has them ready REAL SOON.

lost to GA. Those are the only good teams they played the entire season. I stand by what I said. Everybody seems to think they're SO MUCH better than the rest and it's just not true. You'll see the same crap from the media this year. Their only real comp this year is TAMU and LSU again and they have an open date before both. Whomever wins the SEC East will probably be their toughest matchup. Their schedule according to opponents' last year record is the #104 "toughest" in the country. As usual, they play a couple of tough games and then the SECCG. Where is the BCS strength of schedule other than the SEC hype? Like I said before, "Bama ain't all that."

you mean like sc state, citadel, furman, Wofford, ball state and ect? those that are worth a crap? just for your knowledge all schools play cupcake schools for the home game money and wins, just like we do. but compare their conference schedule with ours. compare the sec bcs record with the acc's. just a fact for you the acc is 3-14 in bcs games. bcs crap, really? did espn help other teams beat us in those games? like I said earlier, win is all you have to do. ps, if you need help with getting committed to an institution, aw never mind, keep ignoring FACTS, its better than hbo and free.

TAMU & GA were the SEC elite on O and it showed w/Bama.
Aug 16, 2013, 1:05 PM
|
|
The SEC upper-ranked teams are riding the laurels of their Ds for the most part. Bama barely escaped in the SECCG and UF and LSU didn't in the bowls. The whole year was skewed in the polls based on a myth. It's easy to have a 'great' D when you don't face but a few good quality Os per year. Bama loses to TAMU and then in the off-season AuBurn hires Malzahn. So what are Satan's first comments? Blah, blah,....HUNHs. Waa, waa,... HUNHs. He sees it coming. Apparently, so does the SEC in their blatant wimp schedule for their run at a 3-peat.

Sadly, we are jealous of the SEC. I live in Alabama, was born in Clemson and love the tigers. We are like auburn ,we don't have the sidewalk fans like hated Bama. We also don't have the money like they do.that's the bottom line, the rich get richer and it will ruin the college game, but no the experience of Clemson. We don't want to be like the SEC, trust me on that.

Not trying to rain on ya parade... But our offense alone is good for 10 wins, but in order to be a top BCS team, our defense will HAVE to be a lot better. And one good game (LSU) doesn't make you a championship squad. Just saying, don't punch your tickets for Cali. just yet. #21

The offense is not going to be as dominating in every game as most of this board thinks. Some people here think that the Tiger offense is surpassed only by the Patriots! We lost Nuk, AE, Ford, Freeman, they are irreplaceable. We'll have some sub par offensive games, I guarantee it. The question is which games? If it's BC, WF, SCS, Citadel, MD, VA etc., that will work-the others, not so sure, because the defense will have to play lights out! We do have trouble with the 4-2-5 speed defense, as witnessed with SC the past four years. I do agree that the defense is the x factor to this season. They have to play with a reasonable consistency for the team to have a very successful season.

Too, your time is coming. You wanna talk about who Clemson lost when in actuality the losses on your defense will be far more detrimental. Gonna be fun watching you struggle for 8 wins. Can't wait until nutbags like you disappear back into the caves you lived in before uSC's recent anomaly success.

I think our offense maybe better this year. We were able to beat LSU without Bryant and Watkins, and add Hopper and Williams to the mix, this offense can overwhelm opponents. We just need the offensive line to perform.

Dr. Doormats, You certainly do have the ##### on your mind, at all times. It must be nice to live in either a fantasy world, or a drug-induced state, where you believe that Clemson actually scores 50-70 points a game. Unfortunately, I stand by my statement, and if the offense has one of those sub par games on August 31, Georgia will beat us by 3 TD's! I apologize for not fitting into your little girl world, where reality doesn't exist, so when things go South for the Tigers, you blame external conditions or have a volume of ridiculous excuses to make you feel superior, when deep inside you know the truth. As for anomalies, I'm just hoping that the LSU win was not one, but we'll all know in about two weeks, won't we?

The only time you demented c0cks come to mind is when I see nutcases like you living your pitiful, contrived lives on the site of your rival.
Much like everything you ever say on this site, the subject post is a work of pure fiction and a clear sign of your mental instability. Cannot be refuted. You should probably try to make it less obvious, but then again I suppose you really don't care how badly you expose your issues.
I'd say good luck with that, but that would be insincere. You've been a nutcase for most of your life, and not trying to sound harsh, but I honestly don't care if you remain a nutcase the rest of your life. Nutcase.

dr numnuts, you want in on this factual discussion. I have two grauate degrees from Clemson,am not a coot, or someone who believes in false tales either. give me your facts about Alabama not being all that since mr solo bowed out with texas a&m. Alabama has won the nc 3 out of the last 4 years and they are not all that? are you crazy like him as well? but you call someone else crazy? go look in the mirror. and once again this discussion you have now joined has nothing to do with Clemson or uscu. understand? it is about your friend mr solo saying Alabama is not all that. by the way what year did you attend Clemson? did you get out of middle school? later!!

so there is more than one of you. maybe you can get a good group rate. no mention was made of uscu. It was a discussion of Alabama not being all that. but like always when facts hit, someone has to be a coot. read the discussion before you accuse someone of being a coot. the bcs record of the acc is a FACT, not something that is debatable. who wins the nc should speak for itself, but if you guys want to believe alabama didn't win it and hasn't for several years ok. what ever makes you feel good about yourself or sleep better. also no mention in the discussion was made of Clemson, mr numnuts, just Alabama and their schedule. go hate on espn more.

so you say that the top half of the sec whips the lower half, hey captain obvious, doesn't that happen in all conferences, and the reason why they are on top or bottom? some really smart people with posts on this thread. wow! and if texas a&m was better than Alabama, why did lsu and florida beat them? I think that's why ALABAMA played for the nc instead of the team you say was better. not a good choice, better try another one? if you don't agree with illogical people you must be a coot. ever notice the people who are the sunshine pumpers are the most delusional and call others coot? there is a good way to spot them as well, read their post. most don't make sense. facts are not needed to post.

check the people with real high pulses and see if you notice any trends? see who call people coots, post paranoid and illogical threads and info, and believe everyone is after us tigers, and finally are pumpers that disagree with everyone and thing. same old story day after day!

against the bottom half. with all your 'bama love, than why did saban cry about the hunh offensive system? i have never said 'bama didn't deserve the Mnc, just that they weren't men playing against boys. they can be beat, and there could have been alot better match-ups (yes, deserved)in the mnc game. the sec teams get mythical points because of the VOTERS, and look at the bowl match-ups. people say lsu was the 6th place team in the sec, yet, looking at the sec standings only 'bama, uga, and uf records were better. so, you always spew about facts but never show any yourself, and when they are presented to you, you deny them. you sure you are a bama fan? or just argumentative,in general!

Clemson is Clemson. Why it has to be "like" an SEC team to get "love" from a pile of dawg crap to be elite is beyond me.....and this coming from an Auburn grad. The SEC is on a roll but it's coming to an end. I think this is the year for it. I'm not a conference guy. I can't stand the way the ACC has treated Clemson over the years (esp. in basketball) and I can't stand the way Auburn has been treated by the SEC. Every conference seems to have it's "darlings" which is stupid.

being the state "flagship" university, and being land grant universities ( i know clemson is, and i THINK auburn is,also). clemson (if we were) and uga being the closest schools in the sec would also have something to do with it,imo.

this board is so upset about. It was meant as a complement in that, like many SEC programs, the folks at Clemson take football seriously. I've been saying the same thing for years, and its one of the things I love about Clemson. I'm a UGA fan who attends a few Tech games and believe me, There is a clear difference between UNC, Virginia, and other ACC football fans and Clemson, Va Tech and FSU.

making a blanket statement about any conf. is foolish, as there are good teams and bad in each.

well. Compare UK's football attendance to UNC's or Duke's. The point is that the statement was meant as a compliment, so it's difficult to understand the thin skinned reaction.

no I am a tiger fan that knows bs and stupid post that make no sense when I read them. most of the post I m talking about have no factual basis, like Alabama is not all that. and by getting two graduate degrees from Clemson I learned to be LOGICAL. because I am a tiger fan, I still don't let someone p and tell me it is raining. most people can smell bs, and some speak about it.

speaking about a child. some people on this site act like middle school kids. if they don't agree with me lets call them coots. I can say what I want and no one should argue with me. I don't won't to know the facts because I have an opinion, and cam change the subject if I don't want to face facts. I would never call any solo posters out, just my opinion you know.

what statistics you want to talk about. national championships, texas a&m got beat by lsu and florida, acc bcs record, the number of nc Alabama has, where they are every year in recruiting, where they are now in all the pre season polls? or just that YOU think they are not all that? I see you didn't have an opinion about texas a&m being better, got any comments? or did espn help Alabama win the nc? +1

Oh my!

Brother, Clemson runs an offensive system which is 'State of the Art.' The SEC for the most part runs a system which was made famous by The Bear and some of the other classic coaches of the past century. Don't get me wrong. I love four yards in a cloud of dust but those day are soon to be gone by the wayside.
Think engineers using sliderules. (SEC)

Or, think ballet dancers v. boxers in a ring? That "State of the Art" offensive system usually lacks a very distinct form of physicality (excepting CFA/LSU), and unless we pick up on that, the SEC will continue to roll right along. Not saying we change the system, just become a more physical team. I suspect we'll all know the answer, one way or the other, after August 31.
