UConn has been a very successful basketball program over the last 25 years, but it's ridiculous for Hurley to say that they've "been running college basketball." Plenty of other teams have had a lot of success over that time as well.
The women's basketball coach at UConn has a much better case for running college basketball the last couple of decades.

In the last 25 years they have 6 titles, who's better.

No one. Duke and UNC both have 3 or half as many.***

No one is disputing UConn's 6 titles in 25 years.

The point is that Tim is right, and also that UConn hasn't "run" college basketball.

When they have good teams they finish them off with titles. But they also have many down years. They are not like Duke where they are top 20-10 literally every single year

He said college basketball, not men's college basketball. They have 16 combined national championships since 1999. Sure, the women have a few more, but their men's teams haven't exactly been slacking either.

Apparently very little about the equivalency of Clemson and UConn basketball. In six seasons Hurley has been to as many tourney's as Brownell in 14. He took over a program that had two straight losing seasons as opposed to 3 straight NCAA tourneys. And, oh yeah, he's won back to back national championships. Further, Hurley didn't say 10 years. He said 25. And they have been, with question, the most dominant program in college basketball over that time. They have double the championships of UNC or Duke since 1999, who are the next closest.

This tweet is like the typical LeBron James Richard-rider who looks for some remote edge to promote him as the GOAT. "Well, Jordan never won an in-season tournament so who's better? LeBron never lost a first round playoff series! Nobody has averaged more points at age 39 so who's the real goat?"
He could also argue that Clemson basketball is better than Virginia in the last ten years because Clemson has had fewer first-round exits from the Big Dance than Virginia has.

Looks like Tim has adopted a favorite methodology of the LF. Parce the data only using a subset to make your point. He should use a footnote to give Viz credit.

With regards to Hurley's comment, Tim is spot on. As a matter of fact, UCONN has not, by any wild stretch, been running college basketball for the last 25-30 years. That is a joke, and it's a lie. The fact that they are on a tremendous run the last two years does not give Hurley access to an alternate set of facts. It's just hot air.
Tim is not saying that Clemson and UCONN are on the same level; he is just correctly pointing out that Hurley is full of ####.

Yes. But they have not dominated MBB the last 25 to 30 years is the point.
