Would have thought Wiggins would have got more saftey help earlier in the game. Early in the game one could see our corners were being abused. Recognize they are young. However, Wiggins made the play that counted - the last one. Go Tigers!!!!

The defense spent the entire 2021 season bailing out the offense, so it was good to see the offense return the favor. A lot of questions still need to be answered in the secondary, but let’s give them a chance to get healthy, see what adjustments the DC can do to cover any deficiencies, and then we’ll be able to judge the unit and the coach. I’ll lean on the positives — if DJ and the WR corps continue to flash like they did yesterday, and the defense turns out as good as was expected, this is going to be fun. Biggest worries: NC State basically having an off week before Saturday’s game, and the trap game at FSU in mid-October.

Teaching corners not to look for the ball is "innovative", I'll give Goodwin that.

Sam Hartman has a way of making defensive backs look worse than they are !
Let’s hope the Wolfpack isn’t just as good as the Deacs we’re!

So does Furman's QB, as well as Louisiana Tech's.

It was ugly, but it was a win. Half the teams picked up a L this weekend

I love that we ##### about wins these days. 20-30 years ago we accepted losses as normal. 8-4 and Peach Bowl was awesome. Half the problem is the QBs have too much time. DL needs to step up and help these young DBs.

Very very true. I’ve never seen a QB complete a pass sitting on his a$$.

Wake's OL was holding all day.
They are an experienced bunch and know how to hold and not be terribly obvious.
However, some of their obvious holds went un-flagged.
Nobody's DL is going to have a good pass rush if the opposing OL gets to hold them all day.

“The only good thing I can say is we gave up six touchdown passes, not seven.”
Leave it to Dabo to make the bestest quotes. That should be on a T-shirt.

upstairs like Streeter. giving instructions to a more passionate gut - feeling right than thinking too much. He supposedly is brilliant in team meetings and teaching moments, however he needs someone like who on sidelines?

A win is a win. HOWEVER, our league has good QBs (NCSU, FSU, Louisville, Syracuse and the guy from Miami is formidable as well). Maybe we should practice some zone pass defense??♂️

First, I’m not a coach, so I have two questions:
Sep 25, 2022, 2:38 PM
|
|
When Dabo said: “Now you kind of take your safeties out of it. You're short a guy and they're riding it into the A gap." Shouldn’t that be the Mike or LB’s issue and not the safeties?
When Wes said: “Towards the end we made some adjustments where we were maybe giving up a little more in the run but keeping the deep ball a little more in check.” Why wait until ‘towards the end’?
The first is confusing, the second darn frustrating. Love my Tigers and I’ll take the win but these two quotes are a little hard to swallow.

I questioned those comments also. Adjustments at the end could cost us. Let's try them sooner and not wait til the end. That way if it doesn't work then you can adjust again. Any person with a little football perspective could see the db's were struggling

Seems Dabo knew his second string corners were freshmen and brought in a player or two shoring up the position?

Am I reading it correctly that it took 4 quarters to figure out the corners needed safety help?

For sure a LEARNING EXPERIENCE for the youngsters and the new DC. I know we really have missed BV and it shows with our lack of adjustment as we have no countered adjustments opposing offenses have made nearly fast enough (who know how many they would have scored if we had not finally given the young corners some help) but we made it in the nick of time and held to a very important FG late and finally got a stop on one play to end the game. We will get there - I just hope we get some folks back for his week as we face another NFL caliber QB who seems to have been around since the turn of the century! Everybody needs to play better and coash better this week and I think we will!

Raise arms to try and defect the ball before the fact, locate the ball in the air.
