So if my memory serves me, we have 9 commitments and they are one 5* and eight 4*s. I don’t get hung up on stars but some of these posters that had concerns about star power or blue chip percentage or whatever you call it should be doing a little less hand wringing these days. Maybe they should have kept the faith all along?!?

One other thing I've noticed over the years....

|
|
Our commitments move up in rankings throughout the recruiting cycle, especially after committing.
I think we do a great job of 1) finding raw talent, and 2) help coach them up during camps, etc, and they get better and 3) they start to get noticed by recruiters and evaluators at speciality camps and are thus noticed for the first time.

Something else worth pointing out...

Top 5 classes are the exception and not the rule under Dabo. I believe we've had two over the course of his tenure here. Our two championship seasons we averaged 12.75 and 10.75 in the four cycles leading in, and 15.00 and 11.00 in our two other final appearances. This past year our composite ranking was 10th yet it was portrayed by some as if we fell off a cliff.
Dabo's philosophy of going after those talented kids that show leadership potential and dedication to team, and his willingness to stay that course and design our program around pushing those kids through that wall and bringing out their absolute best in the process, has few parallels in any sport. Despite all of our disadvantages of a smaller alumni base, less league funding than many of our national competitors, and less media exposure from the ACC - his program thrives.
I am always thrilled to no end for any kid that commits to come play at Clemson, in any sport really, knowing what's in store.
Welcome, Noble, and Go Tigers!

Rhettfla said that he doesn't get hung up on recruiting service ratings ... or did I miss that?
He said that our recruiting classes have been good; cited the current slate of 4*s and 5*s to help along those of us Tiger fans who don't understand that our coaches evaluations are far more important that recruiting service ratings.
It was a bit nuanced, so it's not a bad thing that you didn't understand it.

His quote since your memory seems to be fading: I don’t get hung up on stars but some of these posters that had concerns about star power or blue chip percentage or whatever you call it should be doing a little less hand wringing these days.
Guess reading comprehension is not your thing? His is just another post every time we get a commit from a guy who can’t simply celebrate the good news but has to try and trash his fellow tiger fans cause they had concerns after last years class. No one is sad that we are doing well or that Dabo has adjusted the process successfully. We are all thankful and celebrating our good fortune. I am wondering how many of the circle crowd would be on here to take their lumps had Dabo not been able to adapt? Guessing the ?? would have simply faded into the background until such time as they could once again claim the high ground.

Your dumb ### was on here just a few months ago basically stating the football program could no longer recruit at an elite level. You said they would start feeling the same pains as your ##### Brownell.

Watched his film. One word to describe him: physical. There are a several plays with him trucking DBs. He’s physically developed already and certainly plays behind his pads. Doesn’t have elite speed. Has good hands. Wins 50/50 balls.
Comparison: Cornell Powell

Excellent comparison. A couple years development and could easily become special if he puts in the work.

True. I guess I saw plenty of contested catches, one handed catches, and diving catches to assume he has good hands.

In a Toxic season of recruiting, and all the rules of recruiting being broken with the NIL that was implemented without any rules that could have kept the cheaters at bay, yet no rules that would severely punish the cheaters when caught. NIL has been left wide open by the NCAA without a single rule, with coaches, teams running rabid while knowing what they are doing is wrong for college sports, and it will completely ruin the big 3 of college sports!!!
But Dabo continues to recruit fairly well doing things the right way for the sake of trying to save college sports as we've known it. The cheaters will be really hard to beat during championship season with their teams loaded with bought 5 star rosters, and hopefully with Dabo doing things the right way, Clemson can still compete, and with our heads held high knowing we didn't have to cheat to compete!!!

I'm probably talking big, but I'm not too sure that I'd still be so passionate about Clemson FB if we were blantant cheaters who didn't care about educating our players.
Those numerous CFB programs who exploit easy-to-exploit teenage boys (yeah, I know ... I would have been easy to exploit if someone tossed big bucks at me to play a sport) are burning up a kids chance to be a long term success in life for some bling when they are too young to know better.
But it sure looks like Dabo is still doing it the right way, and I'm confident we'll remain competitive at the highest level.
Even if we don't stay at the elite (as far as winning) status, I will still with good conscience enjoy Clemson football.
(But again, I am confident that Clemson FB will remain elite while 'doing it the right way.')

I think people failed to realize the impact Covid had on our recruiting. Clemson is one of those places that once you see it, you fall in love with it. It’s unique and it sells itself. Once we get them on campus, they will come

I was one who underestimated the impact of on campus recruiting. On the other hand we were a year late in reacting to the new norm. Super excited we adjusted and it appears to a home run

I live in the DFW area & saw this kid play twice last year !!
Believe or not, he's underrated, because Rockwall is not considered a traditional power in the Metroplex, ala Southlake Carroll or Trinity Euless.
He has good hands, runs good routes, & is very physical. He even blocks well. I was really pulling for the Tigers to get this kid. He's the type to stay in the program & prosper in a few years

Like the sound of that. Elite speed can’t be coached but a receiver that understands defenses, runs good routes/good breaks, sure hands and willing to block? I’ll take every time. Welcome Noble! Go Tigers!

Last year was a difficult year for WRU. Our one time All-American receiver did not even get drafted, and we had no one with close to 1000 yards receiving. It is critical, for the team, for the offense, and for our reputation, that we do better this year. Fortunately, the recruits still believe in Clemson. Clemson detractors are betting that we do not improve, either in the QB or WR positions. I think they are wrong, and the recruits, such as Johnson, seem to agree.
