State of Emergency declared in Nebraska

Dec 4, 2014, 12:59 PM

Outbreak of suicide expected.

WOW, they must be resigned to the fact their program is a dumpster fire and the glory days are history. I almost feel sorry for Husker fans.

I don't see Nebraska ever returning back to their old

form of perennial contender status. They killed their program by abandoning the Big 12's (or 8 or whatever # it was at the time) natural rivalry and recruiting zone for the B1G, where they're an outlier. They're in no-mans-land from a recruiting standpoint now and forevermore, both for players and coaches. They sold out to the almighty dollar but good. It won't be long before they recall with warm memories when they were consistent 9-game winners under Pellini.

Not only are they an outlier in the Big Ten, but with the

re-alignment, their division is awful:

Minnesota - Traditionally Awful
Iowa - Traditionally Mediocre
Northwestern - Traditionally Awful
Illinois - Traditionally Awful
Purdue - Traditionally Awful
Wisconsin - Pretty good

It's not like they're facing Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan or Michigan State every year.

The Big Ten money grab screwed them and their fans.

Minnesota is not traditionally awful***

Seven seasons above .500 since 1991 is pretty bad. But

semantics. Maybe we can just agree that they haven't been very good.

Do you realize

Dec 4, 2014, 1:48 PM [ in reply to Not only are they an outlier in the Big Ten, but with the ]

that Minnesota has won 4 national championships?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sorry guys - I didn't really intend for this to get picked

Dec 4, 2014, 1:56 PM

apart like a PhD thesis. :)

I see that they won a National Championship in 1960 and then some from before WWII. Since that national championship they are rockin' a .454 win percentage. Since 1991, they are at about .42. I think that's pretty awful, but I definitely see what you're saying. Historically, they have had much success. Mediocre in recent history, perhaps?

I think my point still stands. Nebraska's division is awful.

You are correct. Minnesota since before the Vietnam War has

been traditionally awful.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This was their home schedule this year

Dec 4, 2014, 1:49 PM [ in reply to Not only are they an outlier in the Big Ten, but with the ]

Florida Atlantic, McNeese State, Miami, Illinois, Rutgers, Purdue, Minnesota

With schedules like that, their home game sellout streak will be in trouble soon.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. That's a schedule that takes fan loyalty for

granted.

I really don't understand the Mike Riley hire. I don't see how he is going to win more than Pelini there.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Muschamp would have been a better hire

Dec 4, 2014, 1:38 PM

Then again they may have offered and he turned them down?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pelini was done

Dec 4, 2014, 1:41 PM

after he insulted their fan base... nothing short of a National Championship would have saved him

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Pelini was done

Dec 4, 2014, 1:45 PM

Muschamp cut from the same cloth. the guy is a bozo

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not a bad hire

Dec 4, 2014, 1:43 PM [ in reply to Re: State of Emergency declared in Nebraska ]

He's going from coaching in the toughest conference in the country to the worst P5 conference in the country. Might take Nebraska to the next level.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

They should have hired Paul Johnson

Dec 4, 2014, 2:02 PM

He'd be about #### near perfect for Nebraska. Can get a lot out of 2-3 star kids and with Nebraska's option history - it would have lined up well with fan base.
