In the world today. People lost jobs. People lost businesses. Hey, they’re hiring like crazy right now, you lazy moochers! Yes they are, for no skill, higher pay than usual, but still low-paying poverty jobs.
Yet, in this current economically depressed world, a few local town supporters of a small (comparatively) college town scraped together enough scratch to pay a coach nearly $10 million a year and pay an offensive staff enough money to the point of money not being a matter of concern ever again in their lives.
I think it is fair to expect a modest return on that investment considering the billions of others that don’t have the elimination of such concerns as any real possibility and many of them here at home in our country worrying about simply having food (I experience this by proxy through my work, and these people in many cases were hard working professionals before this new era we find ourselves in).
That being said, you guys here that are calling out coaches, you go right ahead. That local money could have helped and healed so many people, but it was allocated to coaches of a kids’ game. With such duress to produce that kind of money from such a small and non-opulent society as Clemson, you would expect a return on the investment. Not saying “keep going undefeated and go to the playoff every year.” But am saying “don’t show the world that you are fat, rich, and lazy and don’t want to do the hard work anymore.” The offensive product on the field looks like a mail in and it’s not the players’ fault. Dollars are precious now. Maybe not for everyone, but for many…yes they are. And they cannot be thrown away.
As an aside, Brent V and crew are outstanding and those dollars have not been wasted at all. Dabo, do not shoot your golden goose in a presser. Without that goose, the team is 1-3 right now.
Been awhile, TNet, but after what I’ve seen this year I had to come tell it. Give those coaches everything you got. They should be sweating.
