The way I look at this

Dec 6, 2015, 1:11 AM

If you pause the video as the foot is contacting the ball #30's foot is right around the 29 yard line maybe a hair back. He's 6'2" tall with a slight bend, OK at that moment he looks 5 ft tall. Going with that 5 ft and some angle as he runs, 30deg? That's 2.5 ft to the top of his head. His hand could easily be sticking out 6". That leaves it dead on the line. Trying to see this from the angles the cameras have is ridiculous! ESPN needs to have someone with a brain look at this and say, dang it's too close to call, tough break, happy holidays. That ref is the only person on this earth that can see this and he made the call.

The player is clearly over the line 4 frames after the kick. Somewhere in the order of 140ms after contact. The human brain would have trouble processing both the position of the players and the contact moment with in that time. That is the reason you usually see players a yard or two back from kickers to be sure they don't get caught in this. Margin of error for the ref, UNC should know better than to cut it that close.

Maybe he wasn't over but it's not clear like those homers want to claim.
