The last time I saw an angry Clemson team...I mean ANGRY...

was at Auburn in 2010.
Whatever the coaches are doing to prepare us to play LSU, I hope we are ready for war. Not football... WAR.
I'm sick as **** of confused, lethargic, clumsy Clemson football. It's high time we unleash something ancient on these yellow and purple mo*********rs.

Doesn't matter what conference they're in, they were just bad.

not 5'10ish sprinters that weigh 190 after 4 years in the system. hopefully dye, gallman and/or brooks is the shape of things to come. i just don't think you turn on a switch and change a year[s] of preparation then hope to face a power I, jumbo set team.
stop playing in space then expect to feel comfortable after a couple days playing in close quarters where you get a little sweat on you.
i'm being facecious, but i still don't believe timing, spread, high paced offenses will win consistently against power teams such as lsu.

or so they say for NFL games; I'd rather listen to Gruden than Nessler. I'm in Charleston so I should be ashamed of myself that I'm too lazy to go to Atlanta.
So you don't think Tajh is quick enough to be an option QB??

upset a team like LSU with a spread offense than you are trying to match up with them player for player with a power game. We have rarely been able to recruit trench players needed to run the offense you suggest. Until we can entice this type of player to Clemson, we are going to have to beat elite teams with gimmick. Maybe if we keep winning, we can land the big boy recruits we all would like to see at Clemson.

just labeled clemson a team that needs a gimmick to stay on the field with a program such as lsu, scar, georgia, uf, bama and any other team that plays big boy football.
it's the very reason hs teams went to the spread long ago, to give lesser teams some sort of competitive advantage over greater opponents..
i think clemson is better than that. it might take time to retool, but no, i don't believe for a moment clemson can't compete with lsu, scar, uga, etc on the gridiron or has to resort to a hs offense to do so.
we will continue to struggle to get needed depth at the lines as long as we sell ourselves short and the teams we hope to beat sell 3-5 years of prep for the pro game.

loves the players, he loves the school, he's passionate about the game. he's said, he's not one to hide his emotions. is that it?
forget the family strife he survived, you can't choose your family; you either belly up or fight.
but the man walked on at alafrickinbama and earned a scholarship under one of bear bryant's junction boys, then a starting position, then a national title.
ain't nothing much tougher in college football.

Dabo hasalsoshown that he is constantly trying to improve, even if it means replacing his good friends, hiring guys that others want, and constantly selling our school and team to recruits, family, etc.
We can #### and moan about our near misses, but we have produced more in the past 4 years than anytime since DF left. At the same time I also believe he needs to improve in a few areas; beating Scar, winning the big OOC games, and winning the bowls.
We lost games we should have won under Danny as well, we lost to Scar some then as well. I think the younger fans may not be aware of that. I was able to attend 85% of the games Danny coached and it was a great period in our history, give Dabo the time and he will continue to improve the things needed to be great.

No, I am saying Clemson is not going to consistently, year
Dec 30, 2012, 5:28 PM

after year, compete with LSU , Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Face it, we are a small school in a small state and we have overachieved for our size. Can we have great teams, great runs, absolutely. But when Alabama, Georgia, LSU or Florida has a great coach in place, we are not going to beat them consistently. If we beat them, it is an upset.

Your first sentence says we're not going to compete with LSU. We'll compete with them in about 26 hours.
Your first sentence says we're not going to compete with Georgia. We'll compete with them in a few months.
Face it, we have one of the most popular and a traditionally competitive football programs in all of college football. You're talking about us like we're Wake Forest. Please stop! It's kind of depressing.

spurrier changed his spots from the fun and gun that made him famous.
why can scar do it, win the most games in any 3[probably 4] year span of their program's history, but clemson can't?
that doesn't make sense to me.
i'm a big fan of dabo's. i want clemson to prove my bias against the hunh wrong. BUT a win here and there isn't my idea of success when this university has known what it is to stand toe to toe against the elite of college football and prevail at their game.

Scar has won the in state recruiting battle
Dec 30, 2012, 6:06 PM

I suggest we correct the in state recruiting loses before we worry about changing the offense...which is the only reason we get a Sammy Watkins.
Scar is not now, nor will they ever be, in the same category as LSU, Florida, UGA or Alabama.

really? they have won 3 in a row against uga, 2 of 3

against florida, beat bama in 2010 and of course stoned morris' offense 2 years straight, clemson's for 4.
you recruit because you have something to sell. i think they're selling a program that will better their position come nfl time and not selling 90+ plays a game to offensive stars.
there are a boat load of 4+ star skill players and i love getting cj, sammy, nuk, ae, bellamy, but that's not where the game is won.
i want the focus to be on our lines and imo, asking 4 star lineman to play 90-100 plays a game is not a good way to do it.
on the defense, that smoothering D off johnson's has been helped by spurrier's ball control ways, not hindered by fly by 3 and outs.
clemson is better than that. what is cu missing? a passionate fan base that fills up an 82k seat stadium? no, got that. beautiful facilities? nope, got those too. great tradition, history, education, support with a storybook college town atmosphere? nope, check, check, check, check and check.
i'm sorry, i'm missing why clemson can't compete without relying on gimmickry.
anyway, go tigers! i do hope dabo proves me wrong.

Scar is not now nor will they ever be in the same category as Fla UGA, Bama, etc???
I would say historically Scar is not in the same category as Clemson, UGA, Fla, Bama, etc except for the last 4 years. They are actually 4-0 against UGA, Tenn and Clemson, 3-1 vs Fla and 1-0 against Bama in those years so historically no way but to say will never is a huge overstatement mixed up with emotion.
Fact is all teams play mroe games than they ever have, the ACC is weaker than ever, that equals Dabo's most wins in back to back years etc. How can you ahve a 10 win season when just a few years ago teams only played 8 or 9 games. Now days there are 11 game seasons add a bowl game and a conf champ game etc some teams with play 13 games. Much better chance at a 10 win season for all teams

about the ccgs and the additional season game. not sure what any of that has to do with the discussion?
winning is never easy. too many inexplicable losses in almost every program to say otherwise.

Scar is akin to a "one hit wonder"

[ in reply to Re: Scar has won the in state recruiting battle ] |

Spurrier is their one hit. When he leaves, they will suck, again. Florida, Bama, LSU and even UGA have a title. Usuck will never be on par with those programs. Will they occasionally win against them, yes. But more times than not, they will get beat by them.
