We seem to operate better in the hurry up. I am not sure if Kentucky was playing soft in that last drive but Cade found the short routes open down the field and executed quickly. Really proud of Randall holding on in traffic and getting extra yards. Than he hit a couple medium range passes to Williams and Briningstool. If you noticed Stool helped pull Mahafa into the end zone and there was decent blocking. Going quick which we had to due to time in this case may be our future. Always thought DJ operated better in the hurry up. Excited about hopefully improvement in our offense next year. Been a problem for 3 years.

Kentucky was playing a soft zone prevent-type defense.

The idea is simple; keep the ball in play, tackle, and watch the seconds tick off the clock.

Depends....if by effective you mean the team playing prevent keeps the team hurrying down the field from scoring, it happens all the time. It was a nail-biter, but it happened in the Washington - Texas game Monday night. To say it never happens suggets the team moving the ball always scores.

Yea not sure about the scoring numbers against a prevent but it seems when I’m watching it is just quick hitters to the sidelines and out of bounds with no pressure. I would think the closer they get the percentages have to start trending towards the offense.

The key is tackling ball carriers in bounds to keep the clock running***

Yeah ..... worked perfectly in the Alabama - Auburn game when Auburn DC thought that a two man rush was the solution. How does he still have a job?

KY was gassed...lol. We were pushing them around on that last drive. That's why Dabo said we were going to run it in to finish it.

Correct they were done! A couple of quick TO’s did them in.

The hurry up is great when it works. But 3-4 "three and outs" will gas your defense.

Kentucky was gassed. That SEC defense isn’t used to playing 80 plays.

All your opinions on coaching and you don't know if Kentucky was playing soft?

Been saying this foreever. Line up and snap the ball. Stop all thus checkers and chess bs and just execute the play called.

Tempo/hurry up is good at times, but not typically sustainable for a whole gam

Takes a lot of WR depth to pull off a true hurry up (like we used to do more often).
When it doesn’t work, you put your defense back on the field really quickly.

It’s good at the end of the half and games, and probably strategically at times throughout a game (which depends on a QB that can really move at that pace and process things).
The most effective teams can change pace depending on the situation and use the ‘hurry up’ in the right spots.

And yes, sometimes the ball can move down the field quicker when the other teams defense plays soft coverage and is fatigued.

Would like to see us figure out how to try the ‘hurry up’ on a drive early in a game to see if we can generate some points (our first half scoring was pretty bad this year).
