The horrendous BCS Bowl record of the ACC will be an anchor

on the conference, come selection time for 4 team playoffs. It's not a perception that can be fixed overnight, if ever. ACC football has been looked down on for 50 years. I don't see the perception changing in my lifetime. I really don't. I know Dabo said we won't be left out. But I don't believe that. And furthering that perception is that the SEC and Big 12 and the Big 10 and Pac 10 will have their best available teams playing in two huge extravaganza bowls, The Champs and The Rose Bowl. The ACC is outside looking in. Because of this perception, we will rarely see an ACC team make it to the Top 4, certainly not like the other conferences. Down the road, I can hear opposing coaches using this against us in recruiting battles. They'll say: "You don't want to play in the ACC. They rarely make the playoff and even more rarely win the national championship".
Yesterday was truly a sad day for ACC football. And when the other conferences finish renegotiating their TV deals, that will be the exclamation point. Sad, very sad, indeed.

"Winning" has been the answer for 50 years and will be for 50 more.
Frankly, I don't know if the conference can ever change that perception. Is anyone truly impressed with FSU's underachievng ways (they may end up in the Big 12). Beamer is past his prime at VT. Miami according to whispers is going to deemphasize football. GT academics makes it tough to win big there on a consistent basis (that's why you see GT going to a gimmicky offense).

Every year that passes, FSU looks more and more like

a flash in the pan. Nothing until Bowden got there, nothing since he left (actually started before that, but it provides a natural cut off).
You could say the same about Miami and Virginia Tech. Maryland used to be a consistent contender, but no more. UNC cares about football until basketball starts. Boston College has to compete with the Sawx, Pats, Bruins, and Celtics, so no wonder their fan support is a joke.
I guess we'll just wait for Syracuse and Pitt to bring the ACC some respect....LMAO.

Why do people call GT's offense a gimmick offense. The option is the longest run offense in college FB. The only thing that has changed in GT's option offense, is that it has been changed to much improved. Its not gimmicky!!! If any are gimmicky, its the Pistal and the spread option. Those two are the new, not the option. The option won our only NC....

People listing Dabo as a source crack me up.

Yeah, Dabo talks that sweet Clemson talk, but he also knows that if Clemson is relegated to a second-tier program, he's used our University to build himself an impressive resume. Further, it will be easier to continue that process in the weak ### ACC.
Dabo is going to be fine no matter what.
CLEMSON could easily get ######.

vision. We are talking about Clemson's long-term health. Dabo is in it for Dabo. I laugh when people gush over Dabo saying he loves Clemson. Well, duh. Clemson signs his paycheck.

Yeah, he got to cut out several major steps in his career

path thanks to the brilliant minds at Clemson. He should be extremely grateful. He never had to serve as an OC, never had to languish at Utah, or Memphis, or Furman. He still hasn't had to learn anything about game management.
Yeah, I'm sure he does "love" Clemson.

If we're coots, don't we already have a team?

I find it pretty funny that anyone who thinks Clemson should demand excellence instead of adequacy is called a coot around here. Reveals a lot about what our fan base is made of.

The acc hasn't done anything in the past ten years to be looked at in a possitive way. The acc will have to start winning, and having more than 0 to 1 team in the top 10. The acc do have 5 teams that could hang around the top 15. None of the other conferences have many more than 5 that can hang around the top 15.

The ACC is not Clemson . If the Tigers take care of business on the field then we will have an opportunity to play for the national championship . If Clemson , Tennessee , USC and Michigan go undefeated , but Bama and West Va have one loss each , we are in ... period. Quit with the boo-hoo's on Dabo too , he has done a great deal already for this school and this team . 2 division titles and an ACC title in 3.7 years ? Look at the recruits we are stocking up on . What ever it is that you say about him doing for himself , at least he is putting our brand back on the front pages . Go Tigers or go home...

A selection committee would use RPI and make decision as does the NCAAB selection committee. How many times have you found all four #1 seeds meeting in the final four? While that works with 64+ teams because the cream almost always rises to the top it will not work with the selection of only four teams.
A one loss team with a strong SOS could very likely be chosen over an undefeated team with an ACC schedule. It's possible even two one loss teams from the 'power conferences could beat an undefeated ACC team out.
The addition of Pitt and Cuse takes our SOS in the wrong direction, btw.

This recruiting class and the last two in a "weak" ACC

show just how off the mark you are. Plus, Clemson's meteoric rise in the rankings last year as we won our first 8 games further nullifies your thinking.
All we have to do is continue to recruit at a high level until we overcome the 2009 recruiting class and we'll be in position to win our games and get to the playoffs.
Just win baby!
