Step away from the ledge.

Nov 16, 2014, 2:05 PM

I'm always mad as #### after a loss until I sign on to TigerNet and see how stupid some peoples' perspectives are.

Every time we lose a game (or win a close game) some of you brilliant analysts on TigerNet like to extrapolate the results of the game into some sort of grand reflection on the state of the program. Not every game is a microcosm indicative of the the direction of the entire program. Sometimes good teams lose games to other good teams, particularly when one good team loses their starting QB in the first quarter.

What did we learn yesterday? Stoudt is not ready or maybe capable of leading the offense. But we may not have a better option. No team is invulnerable to attrition and we've seen more than usual the last couple of years. College football is still a game played by 18-22 year olds who are susceptible to the emotional aspect of the game (momentum shifts, suddenly and devastatingly losing your best offense player who had just come back from an injury).

What didn't we learn yesterday? Any sweeping, knee-jerk generalizations about Dabo's coaching ceiling or Morris's abilities as a coordinator (in case no one noticed, the O was humming along pretty nicely with the QB Morris specifically recruited to run the system), Clemson not being able to achieve whatever amorphous indication of success TigerNet puts forth this week.

We've lost three games this year to three very good teams. Three ranked teams. Three teams that will likely win their respective divisions. We have yet to lose to an unranked team. We haven't lost to an unranked team since November 2011. 2011. Alabama is the only other school in the country who can say that. This isn't pumping. These are facts.

We all knew we were in for somewhat of a "rebuilding" year. The fact that we can still win 10 games in a "rebuilding" year speaks volumes about how far this program has come under Swinney. Anyone who can't see that needs to take a step back and look again, maybe go back and revisit some of Bowden's rebuilding years.

We lost our best player yesterday (on top of the other starters who we've lost this year), our backup(s) didn't and probably couldn't step up, and we lost a game on the road. It sucks. That's football. Step away from the ledge and get ready to win these next two games.

GO TIGERS!!

Thank God there is someone out there with a brain and a grasp on reality. We lost, Cole had a poor game... so what? Don't you think our boys are as cut up as they can be? Get over it and let's get behind them for the rest of the season.

Not on any ledge here, just very disappointed

that our offense is so bad and that we play so poorly and lose to teams that are so inferior talent- wise. Even with the injuries, the talent we had on the field was superior to GTs, not to mention BC, Louisville, and WF.

Smiling: i AGREE. Apparently Ace needs to get real. The fact that we lost is not the problem Ace. The fact that our coaches are not getting the job done IS the problem. Dabo is the CEO of this program and he is not adapting satisfactorily to a bad hand he has been dealt. I guess we should have paid 4 plus million to get a coach who could adjust a game day plan on the go! Or maybe 3 plus million to get an OC who understands that to run a QB (7 times in the first quarter) who has just returned from injury, might not be the smartest move in the world.
