Men’s tennis having a little pre-ACC meet up with the Mustangs today at 4 at the Hoke Sloan tennis center. Windwill determine if it’s played outdoor or indoor. Friday was outdoors. It’s youth day so hopefully a decent crowd of local youth tennis players and kids come to watch.
SMU is 8-3 and has a win over Texas Tech. They have played a tough schedule so won’t be intimidated by us.
They made a good coaching hire a couple years ago (Grant Chen) to improve their program to a near top 50 level. I expect this match today to be very close. I’ll predict 4-3, with it coming down to the last court. It’s a match we absolutely must win to get above .500 and get a ranking boosting win with the 1st computer rankings of the season being released this week.
SMU top 6: (American based lineup)
1. Trevor Svajda, Freshman. San Diego, CA - this was a big time recruit for SMU. His older brother Zach is a top 200 ATP pro and Trevor was one of the top 5 recruits nationally. Was a big surprise for Coach Chen to pull him.
