I see that used on this board a lot. I like it. It is a great comment to use in a discussion/disagreement/argument with a fan of a rival team. "Just spot the d#&% ball."
Reminds me of a funny story. Back in the late 80s FSU was playing somebody on a Saturday afternoon. My brother and I were watching it on TV. FSU received a punt. There were flags all over the field. Referees were conferring and they were obviously confused. They spotted the ball and walked off a penalty. Then they had another discussion. They came over to the coaches and explained. Then they spotted the ball and walked off another penalty the other way. Then, they had another discussion. They came over to the sideline and explained what was going on. Both coaches were confused and angry and let the refs know. They had another discussion. The TV cameras went to Bobby. He turned to an assistant and asked, "Is it our ball?" Then he yelled at the ref and said, "Is it our ball?" The ref was coming over to explain it to him and Bobby yelled again, "Is it our ball?" Couldn't hear the ref but he obviously said yes. Bobby just waived him off as he was coming to explain and yelled, "Just spot the dang ball and let's play!"
Side note: My personal expression I use that has the same meaning is "Tee that tater up!" And, I gotta tell you, I am so ready for them to tee that tater up. Can't wait for the games to start.
